Video games company Keywords Studios has reached a $2.8 Billion (£2.2 billion) acquisition agreement with Swedish investment company EQT. The deal is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2024.
Under EQT, Keywords Studios would be well-positioned to make long-term investments
Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Keywords Studios is a global video game service provider partnering with many leading game developers and publishers to help bring games to market and support them post-launch. The company is huge, and over the years, it has made plenty of acquisitions, branching from game development to art studios.
Meanwhile, EQT, founded in Sweden over thirty years ago in 1994, is a global private markets investment organization focused on active ownership strategies. With a strong track record in the services and technology sectors, aims to leverage its expertise and global network to enhance Keywords Studios’ capabilities and international reach.
Expressing delight at the acquisition, the Chief Executive Officer of Keywords Studios, Bertrand Bodson, said: “I am extremely proud of our passionate world-class teams and the leading technology-enabled global platform we are building together, which have enabled us to develop innovative solutions and foster strategic partnerships with our clients.“
Jean Salata, Chairman of EQT Asia also expressed his delight and added that Keywords Studios would be well-positioned to make the necessary long-term investments for the transition to next-generation video gaming and global expansion.
The acquisition made by Houting UK Limited (Bidco), an entity wholly owned by EQT’s BPEA Fund VIII, is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024, subject to shareholder and court approvals. As more details arrive, I will be updating this space.
