Flappy Bird, the classic side-scroller arcade title from DotGEARS, returns to the game stores after almost a decade. Scheduled to be launched in 2025, it will hit both Android and iOS platforms along with desktop and mobile web browsers.
After a trademark acquisition by the Flappy Bird Foundation, a group of fans committed to sharing the game worldwide, the announcement came in forth. There will be several other platforms where the game will be launched. However, the announcement will come at a later date.
“It’s been a decade-long, convoluted journey to get here, but we’re so excited to finally begin sharing Flappy Bird once again with the world,” said a spokesperson for the Flappy Bird Foundation.
Flappy Bird will be released in 2025 with a lot of new features
Flappy Bird will come with a lot of new features to entertain worldwide fans. There will be new game modes, characters, progression, and massive multiplayer challenges. But these new features won’t change the game’s original design that was enjoyed globally.
The trademark right along with its original rights for the original game and character Piou Piou vs. Cactus is brought from Gametech Holdings LLC. Piou Piou vs. Cactus is credited as the inspiration behind the iconic title.
“We are beyond excited to be bringing back Flappy Bird and delivering a fresh experience that will keep players engaged for years to come. We have big plans for our little Bird!,” said Michael Roberts, the chief creative behind Flappy Bird.
What’s new in Flappy Bird this time
So far, the game has introduced four new characters namely Tekno, Trixy, Peng, and Quiky. Along with these birds, there might be new backgrounds as well. Tekno, for example, is a cutting-edge robot bird while Quirky has a unicorn horn. On the other hand, Trixy has three eyes and Peng is a penguin!
New game modes include the following:
- Think you got game?
- Flappy Bird EZ Mode
- Flappy Bird Rivals
Flappy Bird was released nearly a decade ago. It was released in iOS in May 2013 followed by an Android release in January 2014. In early 2014, the addictive classic title hit a massive record and gained over 100 million players worldwide. Due to the over usage and popularity, the developer removed it from the stores on the 10th of February 2014.
This couldn’t stop the title’s appeal and people started playing clones of it. However, the classic record breaker is finally returning, good for millions of fans. You can check more details of the game on its official website.
