Microsoft Corporation has announced the shut down of Forza Street, a spinoff based on the popular Forza franchise that was primarily targeted at gamers on mobile devices. Forza Street originally released as Miami Street on May 8, 2018, has an urban night setting with a bundle of cars from the Forza series. It was later rebranded as a Forza title and then released on April 15, 2019, for Windows 10 and on May 5, 2020, for Android and iOS.
The game was developed by renowned game studio Electric Square, Forza Street is a free-to-play game that contains in-app purchases. There are different game modes including single-player and multiplayer modes.
The single-player mode follows a story that is divided into multiple episodes. In each episode, there are events upon completing which a number of races are unlocked. Players are rewarded with credits and in-game store currencies for winning these races.
Why Microsoft is shutting down Forza Street
The developers have not mentioned any specific reason as to why the game is shutting down. In their official statement, they have expressed gratitude to the players’ community. They also mentioned that they will be using this experience to build “new and exciting Forza products”.
The developers have made it official that Forza Street will shut down in spring 2022 and until then players can spend all their in-game golds and rewards. The players who have spent money on this game during the last 30 days will be receiving a refund. The final update that was released this month, offered an unreleased car and some other major changes.
Forza Street is a unique game for fans of the racing genre. Hopefully, the developers will come back with more thrilling titles in the Forza IP in the future.
