Gamevil, a Kosdaq-listed mobile game developer and publisher, has implemented its initiative to change its corporate name to ‘Com2uS Holdings’ after 21 years in order to strengthen its holding role and increase cooperation with other affiliates in hopes of increasing its reach at a time of rapid global expansion. The renaming of Gamevil to Com2uS Holdings has finally become official on November 30, one month after the approval of their shareholders’ meeting.
Gamevil renaming itself to Com2uS Holdings: What we know so far
To provide some context, Gamevil Inc. is a public company located in Seoul, Republic of Korea, as well as in Torrance, California which develops and publishes mobile video games. As of May 2017, the company’s market value was as high as about $400 million. And on October 4, 2013, Gamevil Inc. had acquired Com2uS, one of its biggest competitors in the industry, for 65 million dollars.
With their video game releases alongside their video game service platform, Gamevil has been an active player in the worldwide gaming scene. They are also the second-largest stakeholder of the Korean blockchain cryptocurrency exchange Coinone. In their recent announcement, they also informed about moving their company’s mission to be a blockchain and metaverse company.
According to a post on LinkedIn by Kyu Lee, President of GAMEVIL COM2US USA, Inc., this change in their company brand will allow them to move to their next brand mission as well as seek out fresh business prospects based on blockchain technology.
One of the noticeable changes that will be seen is on Hive, a global platform for specialized game services that was launched in 2014. Over the years, Hive has been an entertainment channel for its consumers around the globe but now transitions into the global blockchain open platform.
