The pandemic has turned out to be a boon to the gaming market, in particular for the Mobile Gaming Industry, which has been racking up amazing numbers that were never seen before. The consumers have been investing in the growing mobile gaming market, and the numbers do not lie. From the SensorTower reports of 2020, India tops the list of highest mobile game downloads globally in the first nine months of 2020. This does not come as a surprise as the leisure time consumers got during the COVID-19 crisis is utilized to play more games.
India ranks first, followed by the USA, Brazil
India is a densely populated country, and gaming is quite a popular subject among the masses. The majority of people with mobile phones love to play games, while the audience is mostly the youth. India recorded an astonishing 7.3 billion mobile games installations in the first 9 months of 2020. Not only this, this is nearly a 17% share of all worldwide downloads, according to the Sensor Tower reports.
In the March 2020 ending quarter, India recorded 1.8 billion mobile game downloads. Following quarter, these installs rose by 50%. In the September 2020 ending quarter, game downloads grew by 7% to 2.9 billion downloads. These numbers went on increasing as the country was under lockdown, and to spend time, the citizens hooked on to mobile games along with other activities. The numbers in the AppsFlyer report are also high for the year 2020 and are not slowing down anytime soon.
As far as other reports are concerned, the United States of America ranks the 2nd position in terms of installs, which accounts for nearly 10% of the total downloads, followed by Brazil at 8% worldwide. Countries like Mexico, Indonesia, and Russia are also reportedly showing large numbers and growing mobile gaming markets.
India leads in the Among Us, Subway Surfers download lists
When it comes to the individual games, India tops the list here too. While Among Us from InnerSloth remained the most downloaded mobile game worldwide for October 2020, India recorded the most installs of the game during this period, which were 15 percent of its total downloads, which were 74.8 million installs. It is followed by the United States at 11.6 percent of the worldwide share.
On the other hand, Subway Surfers ranks second in the list of global installations. The countries with the largest number of installs were India at 27.3 percent, followed by Brazil at 8 percent. Also, India recorded big numbers for the games like Free Fire and COD Mobile this year. With PUBG Mobile is about to make its re-entry to India, we can definitely expect these numbers to explode.
