Mobile Legends: MPL-PH Season 8 postponed as Government imposes ECQ

No date has been announced regarding the launch of the S8

The COVID-19 situation getting worse in the Philippines spelled trouble for the upcoming mobile esports event of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). On August 5, an announcement from Moonton Games, the developer, and publisher of MLBB, confirmed that MPL-PH Season 8 has been postponed as the Delta variant is re-emerging.

The long-awaited Season 8 of the MLBB Professional League (MPL) Philippines was scheduled to start on August 13. However, no future date has been announced yet for the launch of MPL again. The two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila, starting August 6, will not completely shut down the country’s capital region. The essential public services and economy remain open.

“During this period, only essential services are allowed to operate. The Regular Season will commence later, including the Playoff schedule as well. The health and safety of the teams, partners, local staff, and communities is of utmost priority. The MPL Philippines team will adhere to all government guidelines and safety protocols and take extra precautions during the tournament to ensure the players’ wellness,” said Moonton in the statement.

The announcement from Moonton further said that the final schedule will be declared as soon as possible. To know more, they requested fans to keep following their social media channels.
