Mobile Legends: Blacklist International wins MPL-PH Season 7

BLCK 4 - 3 EXE

Coming off a strong regular-season record, Blacklist International proves to everyone why they are one of the most feared teams in the Philippines and should never be underestimated. Crowned as the winners of the 7th season of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines (MPL-PH Season 7), Dex Star, Eson, OhMyV33nus, Wise, Edward, Oheb, and Coach Bon Chan are at the forefront of bringing back the trophy this season.

Regular Season

In the Regular Season alone, Blacklist has already shown that they are a mighty team, with the best Match record among all teams in S7 and only having a single loss throughout the regular season. Racking up 32 points and being top of the seed in Group B and among all teams, Blacklist has certainly backed up their finals win with a strong foundation early on.

The only match that Blacklist lost was against former champions Bren Esports, who unfortunately did not even make it to the final this year. This 1-2 loss against Bren was for sure a match to remember, but Blacklist players made sure not to fret and kept at it, eventually making the top of the seed almost every week of the regular season.

The Playoffs

This time around, the top seeders were quite expected, showcasing a fierce battle between Blacklist, Bren, Omega, and Aura. Blacklist faced an enormous setback in the first round of the playoffs, giving Bren a huge lead at the start, but came back strong to win in Game 5.

Facing off against rival 1st seed Aura was also no easy feat, but Blacklist cleared that match up in 4. Afterwards, it was on to the finals against the dark horse competitor Execration, who has had one of the toughest playoff seedings yet, having to beat ONIC, Omega, Bren, and Aura.

Mobile Legends MPL-PH Season 7 Grand Finals

With not only the trophy but a spot to play in the annual Mobile Legends Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) at stake, teams had no choice but to do their best to represent the Philippines. In the intense 7 game series, both teams went back and forth and would not give up the ground easily to defeat. In a tense game 7 matchup, Blacklist finally came out on top, with Execration coming in very closely as a runner-up. Both Blacklist and Execration will represent the Philippines in the coming MSC 2021.

Final thoughts

This season was a tough one for fans. Seeing Bren win the S6 title, as well as the M2 World Championship, sparked the dying spark in MPL PH fans that the Philippines were one of the powerhouses in the ML esports world.

However, Bren got in a nasty bit right from the start of the regular season and couldn’t seem to showcase their best gameplay this season, leaving the throne empty for Blacklist to eventually claim. Nonetheless, all teams played extremely well and fans should definitely look forward to S8 for some more jam-packed ML esports action!
