NCSOFT has announced that they will suspend the development of their latest unreleased action-adventure game, Project M, as well as the multiplayer battle brawler game BATTLE CRUSH, which was released in June 2024.
According to a report from Game Meca, an NCSOFT official announced that they will suspend the development of Project M, Miniverse, Doguri Adventure, and their currently active game, BATTLE CRUSH.
NCSOFT has laid off multiple employees, leading to the shutting down of their games
BATTLE CRUSH was recognized for its unique gameplay compared to other classic battle royale titles. However, it received mixed reviews after its launch, coinciding with a decline in the number of concurrent players. Today, the game announced on its social media its service closure with the game officially shutting down next month on November 29th.
As for Project M, it looked promising and garnered significant attention, but the lack of updates led to speculation that its development has been suspended for the time being. On October 21, NCSOFT announced the formation of four subsidiaries through a corporate split-off, which includes three independent game development studios and one AI-focused entity.
The three new game studios will focus on developing the following IPs: THRONE AND LIBERTY (TL), LLL, and TACTAN. Additionally, NCSOFT’s AI research division will be separated to establish a new company called NC AI.
NCSOFT is prioritizing efficient resource allocation, which will result in the downsizing or closure of certain development projects and support functions, as part of their broader internal reorganization. This will involve laying off internal members and the implementation of a voluntary retirement program.
