It is no news that as KONAMI’s eFootball arrived with its 2025 season update, there were a few licensing changes that were made but alongside that, it arrived with few player transfers in real life. Based on that, KONAMI had announced previously that these changes will be implemented in a future update, and in the upcoming eFootball 2025 v4.2.0, these ‘Unavailable’ Players and Managers are set to be made unusable.
Unavailable players can’t be used for matches or legacy transfers from eFootball 2025 v4.2.0
The players and managers will become unavailable this December 2024. As mentioned earlier, this is only due to changes in licenses and content. As part of this change, these in-game players will no longer feature in matches. Automatically, other features, such as player development or manager tactics, will be disabled for them.
Additionally, these players will not be eligible for Legacy Transfers from v4.2.0. Hence, the only thing you can do with them is to release them from your collection via the My Team menu. If any players or managers become unavailable, their graphics, photos, or data will be replaced with generic placeholders to reflect their unavailability.
However, if you have players and managers acquired after version 4.0.0, they will not be affected by this change. Also, don’t be confused with your Featured or POTWs, only those with a Standard card type will be subject to the unavailable list for now. If interested in which player or manager will be unavailable, you can go to Extras > Support > Services and Info > Unavailable List to see the list.
So, what can you do now? I recommend you check the list and see how many of them standard players you have. If you have trained them with extra skills, preferably go ahead with Legacy Transfers before they are deemed unusable. You can also use them to train other players, so do the necessary depending on what your plans are.
Overall, the v4.2.0 update seems to be an interesting and curious one for us fans as there were also leaks suggesting a new Player Trading feature coming. If this arrives as well, it would be interesting as the player dynamics will change and KONAMI might have dropped another fantastic update.
