Electronic Arts plans to overhaul Plants vs Zombies 3 after its second shutdown
Unfortunately, the developers have released an announcement in a blog post stating that the game won’t be playable after November 15, as they are removing it from all the app stores and shutting down the servers for an overhaul, with no date mentioned for a re-launch. “We’re excited to re-tool the game and bring you an even better PvZ3 experience soon,” added PopCap Games.
Plants vs Zombies 3 is a tower defense strategy title where you use different plants to defend against waves of zombies. The game was soft-launched in January in select regions, including the UK, Netherlands, Australia, and the Philippines.
You don’t have to worry if you have made in-game purchases as the developers have mentioned in the blog post that any earned or purchased coin balances as of November 15, will be preserved, provided you have linked your account through Google Play, Apple ID, or your EA account. However boosts, game progress, and the narrative will all be reset.
This isn’t the first PopCap Games has done something like this. They previously removed Plants vs Zombies 3 from the soft launch to implement changes based on players’ feedback. The same situation occurred again, as the title faced lots of criticism from players during the past nine months of its soft launch.
EA has also discontinued service for several titles this year, including Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, The Simpson: Tapped Out, Tap Sports Baseball, and F1 Mobile. It’s not just EA undergoing this process as other game studios are also doing the same. For instance, NetEase Games recently announced the shutdown of two of its titles, Order & Chaos: Guardians, and Operation Apocalypse. However, here’s hoping PvZ3 will be coming back, but this time, won’t vanish.
