Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief 2021 is a special two-part event starting October 15, 2021. This year’s event will be divided up into two parts and feature various Halloween-themed Pokémon and activities, including a few brand-new ghosts Pokémon from the Kalos region and the next chapter of the Misunderstood Mischief Special Research story.

The Season of Mischief continues
A new part of the year-round special research will be unlocked during each part of the Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief Event. The story behind the Season of Mischief continues, and more is revealed in the Research Assignments and Misunderstood Mischief Rewards.
Completing this season’s Special Research Story will give you access to a special event at the end of the season that may have something to do with Hoopa!
With more Clairvoyant-, ghost-, and Dark– Pokémon that appear in the wild – along with new ones first discovered in Pokémon GO – this is the perfect opportunity to learn more about the Mischievous Pokémon!
Halloween Cup
The Halloween Cup will be available in the GO Battle League Season 9
- Pokémon must have at least 1,500 CP to participate.
- Just Poison, insect, ghost, Dark, and fairy Pokémon of the type are allowed.
Special and timed research
- A special research story – What’s under the mask? – will be available! Ghost-type Pokémon are popping up more frequently than usual, and Professor Willow has asked you to learn more about them. Notably, Yamask is showing up in the wild, which has piqued his interest in learning more about Ghost-type Pokémon that have to do with masks. What can we learn about these Pokémon – and what can we learn about ourselves in the process?
- Time-controlled research will be available with tasks focused on participating in the Halloween Cup in the GO Battle League.
Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief 2021 to feature the Lavender town music

Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief 2021 Part 1: Scary Companions
The first part of Pokémon GO Halloween this year is themed around creepy companions: Psychic- and Poison-, type Pokémon that can’t wait to be encountered and befriended, as well as other friendly, creepy Pokémon. Galarian Slowking, the Hexpert Pokémon, will make its Pokémon GO debut, and Shiny Spinarak will be appearing for the first time in Pokémon GO, too!

If you complete this Season’s Special Research story, you’ll gain access to a special event at the end of the Season that might have something to do with Hoopa!
Strange Pokémon are appearing in Pokémon GO, including Pokémon originally discovered in the Galar region. Could this be a result of Hoopa’s rings? Let’s tackle this mystery together and learn more about Hoopa!
Galarian Slowpoke can now evolve into Galarian Slowking! To develop it, hire a Galarian Slowpoke as your pal and start 30 Clairvoyant-Pokemon. You will also be able to evolve Galarian Slowpoke after the event ends.
This is another Pokémon with a special evolution method in Pokémon GO, based on the recently published How to Evolve Inkay in Malamar in Pokémon GO.

The second part of Pokémon GO Halloween Mischief is called Ghoulish pals! ghost Guys will be popping up everywhere the closer we get to Halloween. The spectacularly spooky Pumpkins and Phantump will make their debut in Pokémon GO alongside their Evolutions, Gourgeist and Trevenant!

We also hear that you can encounter Pumpkaboo of various sizes, like in the Kalos region. Gourgeist developed from Pumpkaboo will also vary in size! During this time, intrepid Trainers can complete a collection challenge that encourages them to look for these Ghost-type Pokémon!
Unlock Season of Mischief Collaborative Research Story
The next part of the Season of Mischief Special Research story, Missunderstood Mischief, unlocks. Completing this season’s Special Research Story will give you access to a special event at the end of the season that may have something to do with Hoopa!
Professor Willow has a scary but insightful encounter with some Phantump and Trevenant in a forest! That reminds him that Hoopa is also a ghost-Pokémon, so this may be the perfect opportunity to research more about the creepy, spooky Pokémon around us.
