Square Enix has announced that on January 16, 2025, the service operations for the western versions of their HD-2D pixel-art RPG, OCTOPATH TRAVELER: CotC, will be transferred from them to NetEase Games, which is already managing the game’s operation in Mainland China and Southeast Asia region, where it was launched in December 2023.
OCTOPATH TRAVELER: CotC to transfer service operations during its 2.5 anniversary month
OCTOPATH TRAVELER: CotC is an immersive RPG set in the captivating world of Orsterra, based on the famous OCTOPATH TRAVELER game. The game features an evolved, command-style battle system combined with 2D-pixel art, enhanced by 3D-CG effects. You can build a strong team here with more than 64 characters to choose from and enjoy a new adventure in Orsterra, set a few years back before the events of OCTOPATH TRAVELER.
The game producers, Hirohito Suzuki, and Takahiro Inoue announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) about their collaboration with NetEase, which will result in all operations being transferred to NetEase Interactive Entertainment during the game’s anniversary month. The producers stated, “With the 2.5-year anniversary approaching in January 2025, we decided that the best way to continue to provide quality content for everyone was to work in collaboration with NetEase.“
The devs plan to release additional main story content and other related updates after the transfer process between both companies is complete. You will be able to transfer your game data easily without any hassle and enjoy the game as usual. The service transfer process for OCTOPATH TRAVELER: CotC is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
