For decades, Indian gaming enthusiasts and esports players have always wanted an Indian battle royale game to be developed by an Indian company. Globally popular titles like Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, and Battlegrounds Mobile India have dominated the Indian market. Now, Bangalore-based game development company, Mayhem Studios has announced a battle royale game ‘made for India’ called Underworld Gang Wars.
However, this is not the first time Indians are getting some Indian-themed mobile games. FAU-G, which was released post-PUBG Mobile ban in India had a major failure, and after that Super Gaming has also announced another India-based title named Indus.
The game is based on Indian Underworld stories and features Indian city locations
All the battle royale games we have now, are set in exotic foreign locations and have stories that are entirely different. But, Mayhem Studios claims to have developed a game that is deeply rooted in India in all sense. The development team also calls it a battle royale ‘made for India’.
With Underworld Gang Wars, Mayhem boasts to have created a battle royale game that is all Indian, with a story that reflects the Indian scenario, and characters that are inspired by Indian Underworld stories. The game is set around an Underworld scenario where an underdog gang from the West wants to take complete control of the Eastern region which is controlled by a rival urban gang.
To give users a feeling of authentic Indian Underworld battle royale, the game features locations from Indian cities, local gangs, and famous Indian Underworld Icons. The game has different regions, each region depicts the setting of a location of India and features coal mines and apartments. The game also features iconic landmarks like a stadium, station, racecourse, and a fort.
Mayhem Studios officially announced the title with a drone show. The CEO of Mayhem Studios, Ojas Vipat said, “We are thrilled to come up with the first Battle Royale Title that promises to offer one of the most relatable storylines for gamers”. He also added that the unique locations, coupled with the local setting of the game will provide a great gaming experience for players.
On the other hand, notable Esports athletes and Content Creators present at the launch of the game also praised the graphics of the game and said Underworld Gang Wars would potentially take the Indian gaming industry to another level.
When will Underground Gang Wars globally release
Mayhem Studios said that the game will be available to play by the end of this year, but users can pre-register for the game on Google Play from May 22. As of now, the developers have given no information about the availability of an iOS version or the pre-registration.
