Warcraft Mobile title will release in 2022, confirms Activision Blizzard earnings call

February 2021 rumour is finally confirmed!

Warcraft fans can rejoice as one of Blizzard’s biggest games is now coming to mobile. During Activision Blizzard’s 4th Quarter 2021 earnings call, Blizzard confirmed that they’re working on a new Warcraft mobile title. The Warcraft Mobile game rumour which was floating from early 2021 is now finally confirmed.

“Blizzard is planning substantial new content for the Warcraft franchise in 2022, including new experiences in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and getting all-new mobile Warcraft content into players’ hands for the first time,” the Activision Blizzard report said.

An all-new Warcraft title is coming as a mobile game

This isn’t the first mention of a Warcraft mobile game, though, as Bobby Kotick mentioned a Warcraft experience for mobile during a financial earnings call last year too. Back then, he said that they were working on “multiple, mobile, free-to-play Warcraft experiences”. However, it has been confirmed now.

There’s not much in the way of details but hopefully, it’ll be a good MMORPG or RTS experience. So far, Hearthstone has been the only game from the Warcraft universe that is available on mobile. For anyone who doesn’t know, Warcraft is a franchise first introduced to players around 25 years ago (with its most popular game, an MMORPG called World of Warcraft released in 2004). It’s still got millions of players hopping in daily.

That being said, this is pretty good news for Warcraft fans and mobile as they’ll be able to hopefully enjoy a similar experience on the go if Blizzard decides to make a whole MMORPG or real-time strategy experience. So far there’s no release date but according to the report, the game will be coming out this year itself (2022). There could be delays considering the fact that Diablo Immortal was announced in 2018 but it’s still not out due to delays.
