Civilization Mobile: World Origin, a strategy title based on the popular IP, announces closed beta testing in China

Time to run some strategies!

The popular Civilization IP will be getting another brand-new addition with a new title. Titled Civilization Mobile: World Origin, which has the Chinese name of World Qiyuan, has been announced by 2K Games, and will be holding a closed beta test in China from July 16, 2024.

Civilization Mobile: World Origin brings together land, sea, and air warfare

With the announcement being in Chinese and catering to the players in the region, it was hard to understand the features, but I will let you know the details from the info available. Banking on the success of the original IP, Civilization is widely considered one of the most influential turn-based strategy games ever made, and this title also brings the same experience.

It was also showcased as Civilization World’s Source in the recently held Tencent SPARK 2024. From the details shared, the game brings a mix of land, sea, and air warfare. Hence, it promises endless possibilities with cross-era development, technological explosions, and unique civilization creation, featuring upgraded strategies on three-dimensional battlefields, J-20 takeoff experiences, abundant benefits, and also reduced grinding for an enjoyable strategic gameplay experience.

In addition, the game comes with the Four Emperors system and offers exclusive benefits for guilds, including official promotion, cash military funds, direct planner access, exclusive butlers, official certification, special perks, offline events, and more. Overall, I can say this is a unique take on the strategy genre, especially the Civilization series of games as mobile is concerned.

So, the no-wipe closed beta test for Civilization Mobile: World Origin will commence on July 16, 2024, and this will be catering to the Chinese audience only. The details for the tests aren’t out yet. Since 2K is behind Civilization: Eras & Allies, I’m sure the title will be hitting mobile too. For announcements, keep an eye on the game’s Weibo handle, and if further info is received, I will be updating you in this space.
