COD Mobile creator Hawks calls out Sonho over alleged fake giveaways

Who's at the wrong here?

Call of Duty Mobile is currently trending for some ‘spicy‘ reasons, and closing in over a day this has caught fire. COD Mobile creator Hawks has ignited a virtual war on X (formerly Twitter) calling out fellow content creator Sonho accusing him of orchestrating fake giveaways, branding the whole affair as a ‘scam’.

Hawks accuses Sonho of engaging in scam and bait tactics with his COD Mobile giveaways

The controversy began when Hawks, who goes as @HawksNest on X, responded to Sonho’s month-old giveaway post. Sonho had announced a giveaway for the Mythic Grau skin, requiring participants to like the tweet and follow him for a chance to win. Sonho claimed to have already done the giveaway live, but Hawks disputed this, pointing out that Sonho had initially mentioned the giveaway on Twitter.

In response, Sonho explained that he had conducted a Grau giveaway on TikTok, but it was removed. He clarified that he only streams COD Mobile on TikTok due to contractual obligations. Hawks didn’t buy it and tells him to provide a screen recording of his communication with the giveaway winner while issuing a challenge, stating that if Sonho could fulfill this request within the next 10 minutes, he would conduct a giveaway of a Mythic Siren skin for someone who liked or responded to the tweet.

Hawks then challenged him to show direct messages (DMs) or screenshots between him and the giveaway winner to prove that he was sending the promised prize. Hawks insisted on a public resolution rather than handling the matter privately on Discord. Sonho refused to do so, preferring to address the issue on Twitter. The conversation turned personal, with Hawks accusing Sonho of losing his values.

Another content creator, RealGodzly, joined the conversation on January 7, disclosing that the tweet from Sonho was, in fact, a screenshot he had taken in-game. RealGodzly revealed that he had used the same screenshot for the initial version of his giveaway tweet before replacing it with better-looking images. The community was mixed at this, while also being surprised at a creator like Sonho being involved in a scam.

Sonho refused to acknowledge further and has deleted multiple tweets as well. He then planted an ‘actual‘ giveaway for Mythic Siren with a winner claiming on X he got it. However, this scenario could have been completely avoided if Sonho stayed true to his words and avoided scam giveaways.
