Mojang Studios, who just celebrated the 15th anniversary of their age-old classic title Minecraft will now collaborate with Netflix for an animated series. The series will reflect the adventures of the blocky world, a place where imagination rules. Minecraft series will be developed by the talented studio WildBrain who have previously worked on projects like Sonic Prime, Ninjago: Dragons Rising, and Carmen Sandiego.

Although no concrete information has been released regarding the release of the series, it has been duly confirmed and can be expected to be released later this year as it is the 15th anniversary year of the game. Minecraft is a game that needs no introduction, the game and its lore are extremely popular. The show however according to the studios, will reflect the world of Minecraft in a new light.
Minecraft is not the first popular game to have an animated series of its own, Pokémon and Angry Birds have both collaborated in the past with Netflix for an animated series. This not only shows the progress Netflix is making in the gaming department but also reflects the avenues and opportunities it is creating for game developers to extend their reach further.
