The official announcement regarding the second season of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS): 2023 came recently. KRAFTON, the publisher of Battlegrounds Mobile India or BGMI, announced the reappearance of the competitive BGIS 2023 event through their social media handles. A short promo was released with the post, revealing the logo of the event. Apart from the announcement, no additional details were given. However, the grind for the 2023 event will kick off from 20th July. The finale will be a LAN event, making it the first ever BGIS to do so.

Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023: Tournament Format and Schedule

The competitive scene of Battlegrounds Mobile India has gone through a lot due to the ban on the game last year. But after making it again to the hands of battle royale fans, the game is now looking to start its competitive scene. And to add a spark to the event, the organizers are going to arrange the official scrims session prior to the BGIS 2023 lands.

Format

The Battlegrounds Mobile India Series BGIS 2023: The Grind will kick off on 20th July and will end on October 14th, 2023. The event is divided into two phases, namely the online qualifiers and grand finals. The grand finals will run for three days, starting on the 12th of October.

The starting phase will feature 256 invited teams and 64 of the teams will be promoted to participate in Round 2 and Round 3. In-game qualifiers will take place to determine the teams to compete in the main event. Before the main event, registered teams will play in-game qualifiers through 15 classic mode matches and the highest scores of 10 matches will be counted as ranking points. Later, in 2048, teams will make their way through round 1. As the event progresses, the top teams will remain in the event.

The Grand Finals of BGIS 2023 will take place at the NSCI Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Dome in Mumbai. The stadium will have a reported capacity of around 8,000 people, who will see the top 24 teams fight it out in the Grand Finals. The matches are being streamed in Jio Cinema, which is one of the biggest OTT platforms in the country. The top 8 teams of this tournament will qualify for the India vs. KR invitational tournament.

Players can also catch the live action of the finals from the venue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium, Worli, Mumbai by booking their tickets on Bookmyshow. The finals will see the top 16 teams will play 18 matches across all three days between 11:00 AM and 6:30 PM, with the final showdown and closing ceremony on the 15th of October, 2023. The prize pool for the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series BGIS 2023 is announced as 2 crores INR. The final list of teams participating in this tournament is not published. We will update this page with the list of the teams as soon as the details are revealed.

Battlegrounds Mobile India Series BGIS 2023 could be a door opening for Indian teams in the upcoming PMGC 2023

PUBG Mobile India Series was renamed to Battlegrounds Mobile India Series in 2021 and was held in the same year. Skylightz Gaming came out as the crown champion. With an invited slot in the grand finals of PMGC 2021, GodLike Esports made it to the event.

So, with the PMGC 2023 ahead, BGIS season 2 is likely to be the door opening. Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2023 will take teams from the in-game qualifier, making it a grassroots event where underdog teams will get a level playing field to come on top.
