This week is arguably the most exciting and interesting in the recent BGMI scenario. First, Team Soul was eliminated from Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021 after failing to get into the top 6 ranking of their group in the quarter-finals. After that, a sudden investigation revealed that one of the teams from group 4 was ringing, then they were also accused of fake documentation. These all made way for Team Soul in the BGIS 2021 semi-finals. In this article, we are going to discuss the whole story of team soul’s return in Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021.
Following up the previous story
After the conclusion of group 4 of the BGIS quarterfinals, 6 teams qualified for the semifinals. Those teams were:
- Godlike esports
- Tactical esports
- 4 Heroes
- Enigma gaming
- Team X lions
- R esports
Big names like Insane esports and Soul failed to qualify from group 4 while underdogs like Tactical esports and R esports did the unthinkable. It was going well and smoothly until some questions were raised.
Investigation during the BGIS 2021 quarterfinals
It is rumored that one or multiple teams who are playing BGIS appealed to officials to recheck some teams. On 6th January, it was clear that they have found something suspicious many big esports personalities like Ghatak from team Godlike put stories about team soul’s comeback indirectly on their social media handles.
Many unofficial sources claimed that one or multiple teams were found breaking the tournament rules and they will be disqualified and soul will get their slot in the semifinals. Though all these claims were speculations since there was no confirmation from BGIS officials but something was cooking for sure.
The announcement of Team SouL’s return
After looking upon the proofs and other things like footage and recordings, it was revealed that ‘Empire’, a player from team 4 Heroes was ringing in the quarter-finals. It was also revealed that they faked their documents while registering. These violations were enough to kick themselves out of the tournament.
4 Heroes were disqualified under rules 2.1.5, 3.2, and 6.2.4 of the rulebook, all of which amount to some form of ringing (an unregistered player competing from the account of a registered player). As team soul was in 7th position, they got the 6th place after 4Heroes got disqualified from BGIS. Along with 4 Heroes, a team named PLM was also disqualified due to the same reason.
After the entire fiasco, Team SoUL was finally given the green light to take part in the BGIS 2021 Semi finals. With their not-so-impressive performances in the early stages of the tournament and lack of consistency and team cohesion, it is yet to see if they can go all the way and win the championship.
