Mobile Legends: RSG Philippines are the champions of MPL-PH Season 9

A clean victory against Omega secured their title!

Season 9 of the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) of the Philippines has come to an end today with RSG Philippines being the crowned champions of MPL-PH Season 9. After a sweeping win of 4-1 against the other finalist Omega, the team has managed to lift the highly-coveted trophy. The runner-up Omega, however, secured their spot in the upcoming MSC 2022 alongside the champions.

Previously, the top-tier event of MLBB Esports in the Philippines started on February 18, 2022. All the participants from the previous edition were present at this year’s event as well. After a long battle among the teams, the event has concluded today, ahead of the country’s participation in the SEA Games 2021.

MPL-PH Season 9: RSG PH and their journey through the grand finals

In the best-of-seven grand finals, RSG took the first match without much hassle, as their regular-season MVP ‘Light’ took a stronghold on the bottom lane. But, Omega made a record-breaking comeback in the second match, making it the lowest-scoring match in MPL history. However, the next three consecutive wins for RSG put the final nail in Omega’s coffin and the champion team took the game by a 4-1 win to take the trophy home. Coach Panda also made a great achievement, as this is his second MPL-PH trophy.

The event offered a handsome amount to the teams

The MPL-PH Season 9 featured a massive $150,000 as of the prize pool. Except for the bottom two teams, the rest of the teams got a fair share of the money, based on their overall rankings after the event. However, apart from the fixed amount for each of their positions, the money is also awarded to players and teams for winning matches, completing objectives, and for showing outstanding performances throughout the edition.

Alongside the throne and a place in the Southeast Asia Cup 2022, the winning team also pocketed an amount of $35,000. Runner-up Omega Esports took $20,000, while being followed by TNC Pro Team’s $10,000. Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo from RSG secured an additional $1,000 for himself only, for being the MVP of the Finals.
