FIFA Mobile 22: Reviewing the World Cup 2022 TOTT Players

Choose only from the best players!

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar was taken home to Argentina in remarkable fashion, but the road to the trophy was not easy. In fact, this tournament had several memorable moments, such as France’s come-back in the World Cup final, Morocco‘s charge to the semis, and the shifts in tides on the last day of the group stages. For football fans around the world, the World Cup featured great entertainment all-round. EA has put the spotlight on 16 TOTT players who were at the top of their game and finished with a campaign to remember. Each of these players has a 108-rated TOTT card in FIFA Mobile 22, featuring high stats and wildcard chemistry.

Available to be obtained by free-to-play players as well, these cards can make great additions to the club. The World Cup event in FIFA Mobile 22 has been a very long one, but all that grind ultimately comes down to this. In this article, we have reviewed each and every 108-rated TOTT player in detail, analyzing their strengths, weaknesses, and suitable playstyles to help you make your decision on which TOTT player to add to your team in FIFA Mobile 22.

FIFA Mobile 22 TOTT Starter Players

Emiliano Martinez (GK)

  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Number 1

Overview

There were two players that were pivotal in Argentina‘s road to the 2022 World Cup trophy. One was Lionel Messi, and the other was Emiliano Martinez. On two occasions, Argentina lost the lead over their opponent and was taken to penalty shootouts. However, on both occasions, Martinez dragged his team through. In total, the Aston Villa man saved an impressive 4 penalties in the tournament including penalty shootouts. In addition to lifting the World Cup itself, Martinez also took home the 2022 World Cup Golden Glove in a particularly famous fashion.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Normally, goalkeepers in this season of FIFA Mobile have been a bit underwhelming. Martinez feels different though. He looks so big in the goal and he is so quick to jump around and reach out for the ball. It will take only the best shots to beat Martinez – it feels like even above average isn’t good enough.

All in all, TOTT Martinez is a very frustrating card to play against. For those obtaining TOTT players through packs in FIFA Mobile 22, a goalkeeper might seem like a bit of a miss at first, considering the level of outfielders available, but don’t get it twisted, this is still a very good card.

Achraf Hakimi (RB)

  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Balanced

Overview

Morocco enjoyed a fantastic campaign, one which nobody had expected to happen. In that Morocco squad, Hakimi had the highest expectations considering his track record of playing at top clubs like Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan, and now PSG.

Ultimately, Hakimi created one of the most memorable moments of the tournament. In the Round of 16 game against Spain, Hakimi stepped up to the spot in the penalty shootout to take a deciding penalty which would send the team through to the next round. Not only does he go on to score that penalty, but he also does it in style with a cheeky penalty – completely unfazed by the pressure around him.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Hakimi is a complete right-back excelling both in attack and in defense. He is a tough defender to get past and has great awareness to block passes and avoid being caught out of position. When on the ball, Hakimi possesses a very fluid turn and a great burst of pace to help carry the ball forward.

Hakimi-FIFA-Mobile-TOTT
Image via Electronic Arts

His passing range is also fantastic, from distant through balls to crosses. Compared to previous seasons of FIFA Mobile, the crossing isn’t as overpowered, but it will appear very useful with Hakimi. No doubt, this is one of the best right-backs in the game right now.

Theo Hernandez (LB)

  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Pace

Overview

Hernandez has always been considered a top-class level left-back and his performances in the 2022 World Cup confirmed that. He brought defensive solidity to his team and also bombed forward whenever he had the opportunity. The 25-year-old came away with 1 goal and 2 assists this tournament, and it’s difficult to pick out another player in his position who had a better campaign. As a result, Hernandez easily books a place in the 2022 World Cup team of the tournament.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Just as expected, Hernandez represents what a complete left-back would like in FIFA Mobile. In defense, he is strong and effective in breaking down opposition attacks. When with the ball, Hernandez can bomb up and down the pitch with incredible pace, and the ball essentially just stuck to his feet.

Theo-Hernandez-FIFA-Mobile-TOTT
Image via Electronic Arts

With a great passing range, Hernandez can ping accurate balls anywhere on the pitch. If crossing was as powerful in this season of FIFA Mobile as it was in earlier seasons, this would have been one of the most popular cards in the game. Nonetheless, this is a brilliant LB that can easily be plugged into any team.

John Stones (CB)

  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Defending

Overview

England was matched with a tough game against France in the quarter-finals, and it turned out to be a very good clash. Unfortunately, England went out early, which was unfortunate as they were performing well prior. With 3 clean sheets in 5 games, the England defense was a tough one to beat and part of that goes to John Stones‘ consistency and reliability at the back. Stones had several good performances and moments where his teammates could just trust him to do his thing. Players like that are always good to have on the team.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Stones is a bit of a weird one; he has good moments but also some very bad moments. He has the right foundations which are why in VSA he is a fairly solid defender. It’s not easy to get past him but at the same time, it’s not overly difficult – there are some defenders better than him on the market. In H2H, Stones can be a little frustrating.

Stones-FIFA-Mobile-TOTT
Image via Electronic Arts

For example, he might make a good tackle, but then he’ll let the ball bounce off him and go straight back to the opposition. Sometimes, he gets too eager and moves toward the attacker, leaving space behind him. After making a good tackle, he might even just carry on running forward if there’s a bit of space, which again, just leaves a big gaping hole in the defense.

Stones has a good passing range, but he feels clunky and off-balance with the ball. He is frustrating to use, and there are moments where he just can’t do the bare minimum for a defender, like knowing when to press, which doesn’t seem right for a 108-rated TOTT player in FIFA Mobile 22. All in all, this was disappointing.

Thiago Silva (CB)

  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Marking

Overview

Brazil went out much earlier than expected in this World Cup, falling to the hands of Croatia in the quarter-finals. It came as a shock particularly because they were playing so well too. Their defense conceded just 0.6 goals per game which was a tally bettered by just one other team in the tournament. Thiago Silva was one of the players to thank here. At 38 years old, this man is still having consistent top-notch performances at the highest level. Silva did his part for his country and was unlucky to have not gone further.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Thiago Silva is a VSA player’s worst nightmare. He plays with that highly-physical “homing missile” type role as a center-back, using his strength to essentially just run into the attacker and throw them off completely. He is incredibly quick, his reaction time is short and he is really difficult to stun with his skill moves. In fact, it is yet to be confirmed whether he gets stunned at all.

Thiago-Silva-FIFA-Mobile-TOTT
Image via Electronic Arts

Similarly in H2H, Thiago Silva can effectively just run into attackers’ heads on and they’d have little chance of holding onto the ball. He does lack some pace to keep up with the especially fast wingers, particularly when caught on the counter. Therefore, Thiago Silva is best suited to playing in the middle of a back three, or alternatively being partnered with a quicker and more dynamic center-back.

Josko Gvardiol (CB)

  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Tackling

Overview

Gvardiol emerged as one of the best defenders of the tournament in the 2022 World Cup. He had several good performances which were key in getting Croatia to the semi-finals for the second year in a row. What’s more striking, is that Gvardiol is still just 20 years old. He has barely started his career and is already shining on arguably the biggest stage in football. It’s clear Gvardiol has a very bright future ahead of him, without a doubt.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

With great reaction speed and accuracy with his tackles, Gvardiol is bound to cause problems in VSA. Sometimes it feels like the attacker has gotten past him but then he recovers quickly and comes in with a well-timed tackle. This is similar to how Gvardiol performs in H2H – in terms of just tackling, catch-up speed, and reactions to help make blocks and time the tackles, Gvardiol is top-notch.

Gvardiol-FIFA-Mobile-TOTT
Image via Electronic Arts

However, whilst he has the height, his physical build isn’t great which means if he loses his runner, the attacker gets a small time period to take a shot or play a pass. Eventually, Gvardiol comes back and can close him down really well but a good player with a strong physical striker can make those small time periods count. That’s the main flaw in this card. Other than that, everything else is fine. Ideally, Gvardiol should be partnered with a physical center-back, or even better, he could play really well on the left or right side of a back three.

Sofyan Amrabat (CDM)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Sofyan Amrabat
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Holding

Overview

Morocco was a joy to watch in the 2022 World Cup. The way they played, and the intensity they played with were simply fantastic. After major wins against teams like Belgium, Spain, and Portugal, the Moroccans just fell short in the semi-finals to France. At the heart of the Moroccan midfield was Sofyan Amrabat. Few people expected him to light up the stage in the way he did, with his defensive solidity and leadership.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Just as the stats suggest, this is a brilliant card in-game. That holding defensive-midfielder role is an important one to get right and Amrabat suits that role to perfection. The defensive acumen is equivalent to some of the best center-backs we’ve had this season of FIFA Mobile 22, and when coupled with elite physicality, we have a rock at the heart of the midfield.

Amrabat-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

That’s not all though, Amrabat also has great control over the ball, an insane passing range, and a surprisingly dangerous long shot too. All in all, this is the complete package for a defensive midfielder.

Jude Bellingham (CM)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Jude Bellingham
Image via Electronic Arts
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Long Passing

Overview

It’s easy to forget that this guy is still just 19 years of age. Bellingham shined on the World Cup stage despite the pressure on his shoulders. He often ran games from England‘s midfield and was a joy to watch at every minute. With 1 goal and 1 assist, Bellingham showed the world what he is capable of and there’s no doubt, he could very well go on to become one of the best in his position in a few years.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Bellingham-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

The box-to-box midfielder is one of the most demanding roles to play in football and this card suits that so well and at such a high level. Bellingham can break down attacks in his own half, then pick the ball up and drive forward with the ball stuck to his feet and create a chance or even just fire a long shot – all by himself. Whether you want a midfielder who can clean up in defense or penetrate the opposition box, or even one that can do both, this card is a brilliant option regardless.

Luka Modric (CM)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Luka Modric
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Vision

Overview

In the 2018 World Cup, Croatia shocked the world after making it to the final, and this year, they almost managed to go on a similar streak. This time, the Croatians were knocked out by eventual winners, Argentina, in the semi-finals, which is still a very impressive feat. One of the players that always turns up for this country is Luka Modric. Modric’s performances were consistently top-notch, particularly in how he controlled the midfield and lifted his teammates with his consistency and leadership.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

At first, sight, what was especially striking about this card is that on just base stats alone, every attribute of this card is above 100. Similarly, this card performs as well in-game too. There is genuinely no weakness with FIFA Mobile 22 TOTT Modric.

Modric-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

Everything from attacking the opposition box to defending his own, Modric can cover it all. On top of that, Modric is on an elite level with everything expected of a midfielder, which includes his dribbling, ball control, and passing range. It’s difficult to ask for anything much better from a central-midfielder card than this.

Cody Gakpo (LM)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Cody Gakpo
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Long Shots

Overview

All things considered, Gakpo had a good campaign for the Netherlands in the World Cup. He bagged three times for his country and looked like one of his country’s most dangerous attacking options at several moments. The Netherlands fell short in the quarter-finals to eventual winners, Argentina, however, they didn’t go out without a fight. Their comeback from 2-0 down stands as one of the best moments in the tournament. Gakpo recently made the switch to Liverpool for a price of around €40 million, following his impressive performances for both club and country.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Gakpo’s on-the-ball skill and goal-scoring ability is the standout with this card. He is a major threat to defenses with his quick and direct style of play, always looking to get in behind and create chances for himself and his teammates.

Gakpo-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

Gakpo is a goal-scoring-minded player, but he is also capable of contributing to build-up play and setting up his teammates with clever passes and through balls. These kinds of cards are perfect for VSA since they can essentially create goal-scoring chances out of nothing. Of course, H2H is no different either – Gakpo is easily one of the best in his position in the game.

Bruno Fernandes (RM)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Bruno Fernandes
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Counter

Overview

Not many people had Bruno Fernandes to have the campaign that he did in the 2022 World Cup. He came away with a very impressive 2 goals and 3 assists. Portugal fell short in the knockouts after losing to Morocco in the quarter-finals. If it wasn’t for that loss, Fernandes could have added more to his tallies but it was a successful individual campaign for him nonetheless.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

On first impressions, this is really quite an interesting card. As a right midfielder, Bruno plays as an exceptional outlet, with fantastic movement and fluidity on the ball. It genuinely feels like this card possesses some of the best finishing and the best playmaking in the game.

Bruno-Fernandes-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

There is one big catch though, it’s that 4* weak foot rating. Sometimes, Bruno feels awkward on the right side since cutting in on his weaker left isn’t reliable. These odd moments with the left foot can get a bit frustrating. In fact, it seems like every stat of this card has been raised to make up for the issue. All in all, the best way to describe this card is, if it had a 5* weak foot, it would be in the discussion for one of the best cards in the game. The rest is up to you!

Antoine Griezmann (CAM)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Antoine Griezmann
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Short Passing

Overview

Griezmann has played in several positions during his career, from the wings to center-forward to second striker and now to midfield for France. He was pulling the strings for his country in the 2022 World Cup, coming away with 3 assists – no other player in the tournament could manage more. He also ranked highest for chances created and big chances created. It was a successful campaign for Griezmann, and he certainly deserves a mention in the team of the tournament.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

As far as center-attacking-midfielders go in FIFA Mobile, Griezmann is a very good one. It is an important role to play, as CAMs must be capable of both finishing and creating chances, and fortunately, Griezmann does well in both. On the ball, he is brilliant, and he has a wand of a left foot that can pull off some great passes and finesse shots.

Griezmann-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

Particularly from outside the box, it’s impressive how Griezmann can place it in the far corners of the goal with power as well. It would have been nice if this card had a 5* right foot as well – this is a little disappointing considering most attackers in this set of players have that 5* weak foot. Nonetheless, this is still a very good card.

Kylian Mbappe (LW)

  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Speed

Overview

When all hope was lost for France in the World Cup Final, one man rose to the occasion. Mbappe netted three times to help his country draw to Argentina 3-3. He lost the final but won the hearts of football fans all around the world with his fantastic individual display which will be remembered for years to come. With 8 goals and 2 assists, Mbappe didn’t come home empty-handed, as he won the 2022 World Cup Golden Boot.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Mbappe-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

Just as his stats suggest, Mbappe’s in-game performance is consistently top-notch. He can finish from anywhere on the pitch with great power and precision. With the ball, Mbappe can glide past defenders with ease, using his lightning-quick pace and ball control to carve out chances for both himself and his teammates. On top of that, he even has an aerial threat too. This card feels like a merge between a rapid, technically gifted winger and a target man striker – it’s just as scary as it sounds.

Lionel Messi (RW)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Lionel Messi
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Agility

Overview

It feels like it was just meant to be. Despite so many league titles, Champions Leagues and Balon Dors, Lionel Messi had always missed one trophy, and now he finally has it. Messi helped Argentina to their third World Cup, contributing 7 goals and 3 assists. Winner of the World Cup player of the tournament as well, this will certainly go down as one of the most iconic campaigns in the tournament’s history.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

This card performs just as expected in-game. Every shot, every pass, and every dribble is consistently executed to perfection by TOTT Messi in FIFA Mobile 22. In VSA and H2H, there really is nothing this card cannot do. Normally with the top wingers in FIFA Mobile, the usual disadvantage comes in the form of weak physicality.

Messi-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

However, despite Messi’s short and small build, he can still squeeze through gaps with the ball stuck to his feet. As for playstyle, this card suits the wide playmaker style best, where he can create chances for his teammates and pop them in himself. Obviously though, since TOTT Messi is so elite in every aspect, he would suit any playstyle to a high level in FIFA Mobile 22.

Richarlison (ST)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Richarlison
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Second Striker

Overview

Brazil‘s hopes of a 6th World Cup were ended by Croatia in the quarter-finals. However it must be said, Richarlison did have some good moments throughout his time in the competition. Most notably, his bicycle kick in Brazil’s first game is up there as one of the best goals of the tournament. Richarlison went home as his country’s top scorer, with 3 goals in 4 starts.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

Richarlison brings the Brazilian touch with this Team of the Tournament card. In terms of technical ability, this card is one of the best out there. Not only is he incredibly agile and quick with the ball, but he also has the strength to hold up the ball and avoid getting pushed off it.

Richarlison-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

As a striker card, Richarlison has a deadly finish and is excellent in the air as well. Playmaking isn’t supposed to be his best suit, but he can do some of that as well. All things considered, this is a complete card in pretty much every aspect – it really is difficult to pick out any room for improvement.

Julian Álvarez (ST)

FIFA Mobile TOTT Julian Alvarez
  • Overall: 108
  • Skill Boost: Finishing

Overview

After signing for Manchester City last Summer, it was clear that Álvarez had good potential. Few people expected him to immediately hit the ground running though, and ultimately go on to the World Cup. Álvarez showed great maturity in his performances for Argentina, despite having just 3 starts at a top European club in his career. The 22-year-old scored 4 goals in 7 appearances, playing a key role in his country’s road to victory.

VSA and H2H Gameplay

TOTT Álvarez is a very dynamic striker, and it’s difficult to go wrong with cards like these in FIFA Mobile 22. His finishing is top-notch, and he can score from a variety of angles and distances – this is what you would expect from a striker of this caliber anyway. With a quick and fluid movement, Álvarez’s small build adds to the nimble and agile feel.

Alvarez-FIFA-TOTT-Mobile
Image via Electronic Arts

In addition, Álvarez also brings creativity with neatly threaded-through balls and a good passing range. His versatility is a major strength, as he can make runs in behind, play with his back to the goal, and drop deep to link up play. Although he may be a bit on the shorter side, he makes up for it with his impressive jumping reach and aerial ability to connect with crosses. All in all, this is a great striker that could suit any team well.
