Monster Masters Beginners Guide and Tips

Gotta collect 'em all!

Monster Masters is an actionstrategy RPG, where you collect, fight with, and evolve monsters to become a legend! It is a game, where you need to fight with monsters of the fantasy world, upgrade them, and evolve them into more powerful monsters. In this Monster Masters Beginners Guide, I will guide you with the basics and most necessary mechanics of this game so that you don’t have a hard time in the battle arena. Additionally, you can check our redeem codes article to grab some freebies along the way.

Monster Masters Gameplay Basics

The game seems like a turn-based action RPG, but it isn’t. You need to clear every stage of a map primarily. To clear stages, you will be randomly assigned an online opponent, of an equivalent level. As the battle starts, there will be three moves available (at the initial level), to deal damage to the opponent, or heal your monsters, based upon the monsters in your team.

The battles would mainly be a two monster battle, where the monster trainers would use two monsters each, and the battle ends in favor of one who has his monster in the arena standing till the end. After each battle, you will be rewarded with coins, or power-up points, based on your result.

The progress bar for that particular map or location would also provide you with several rewards, like monster eggs, diamonds, rainbow stones, etc. After completing a map, you will move on to the next, as your level increases, you will be getting tougher opponents.

Monster Masters Beginners Guide Tips and Tricks

Here are some tips and tricks I wish I had known before I started playing this game:

1. Know the moveset of your monster

Just like any monster duel battle, you need to be aware of the moves that your monster has, and the types or mechanism of damage it deals. The first monster, or your starter monster is among the trio of Agilu (Leaf), Volcub (Fire/ Rock), and Drala (Water).

As far as the type advantages are concerned, there probably aren’t any in this game. Your moves will inflict equal damage on every type of monster, irrespective of their category, as long as it hits them.

You may start your battle with a level 2 move, that deals higher damage, but your energy bar would be exhausted. Hence, always start with a basic low-damage move. All three starters are equally powerful, it depends on the trainers if you can win battles with them or not.

2. Use moves that can evade attacks

As much as it is necessary to deal damage to the opposition, sometimes, defensive play can win you battles. Besides moves that heal your monsters, certain moves can evade the entire damage dealt by the opponent on your monster. For that, check the move gauge under the opponent’s monster name. The move is unleashed when that gauge is full.

Use a move like Fly or Dig when the opponent’s move gauge is full, to dodge the attack on time. The good thing is, that they not only help to dodge the opponent’s move but also deal a fair amount of damage to the opposition, based upon the level your monster is at.

3. Use moves to immobilize

Certain moves temporarily immobilize your opponent. These moves require perfect timing from the user. Moves like Sleep Powder immobilize the enemy for a few seconds, and the opponent cannot deal any damage during that time. Also, moves like Poison powder (Leaf attribute), deal constant damage at an interval of 8 seconds to the opponent. Others, like Leech Root, also have a similar function, while disallowing the opponent to switch their monster.

4. Level up your monsters

A powerful monster is usually one that is fairly leveled up. Even if your battle level is way below your opponent’s, a leveled-up monster can win matches for you. To level up your monsters, you need gold and EXP. A monster can reach up to level 10. Leveling up monsters means increased attributes, HP, and new moves. Hence, make sure to collect sufficient gold to level up your monsters.

5. Evolve your Monsters

Evolution only happens to selected monsters. It is a change of form, besides getting new moves, and gained attributes. For evolving though, your monster needs to reach a particular level, that varies from one monster to the other. However, remember that once evolved, the monster cannot go back to its previous form. Evolved forms always have a combat advantage over the non-evolved ones of the same species or attribute.

6. Change your monsters’ and your looks

You may change your monster’s color, to make it more attractive. The Rainbow Stones, rarely found in surprise boxers, or as winning rewards, help change the looks of your monster. This doesn’t affect your combat skills, or battling power by any means.

Different monsters require different numbers of Rainbow stones to change their color. Also, you may change your looks. the first attempt to change your look is free. However, you will be charged 500 gold for every additional change you make to your look.

7. Follow the required list of missions

Since finding enough gold is very difficult, or rather time-consuming, you have to use gold very wisely. Hence, randomly leveling up or evolving monsters might lead to wastage of gold eventually. Hence, try to follow the missions or tasks assigned during the current season.

Completing the missions returns handsome returns of items. Also, like this, you would not aimlessly keep on overpowering your monsters and use up all your gold.

8. Eggs hatch new monsters

Monsters are born from eggs in the game. Unlike many similar games, monsters do not roam freely in the world, instead, they are incubated within the eggs, which hatch after a specific time. Eggs are found as battle rewards or mission completion rewards. However, only one egg can be hatched at a time. You may boost the required hatching time using gem diamonds, or watching short ads.

9. Do practice sessions

Practice sessions are available on every map, and help you practice with your monsters, without keeping track of the battle outcomes. Doing practice sessions does not affect the player’s stats or monster combat skills. They just help the real-life players to hone their skills, and increase co-ordination with their monsters in the game. Hence, whenever you find difficulty in understanding the mechanics of certain monsters, practice with them.

10. Watching ads might help you

Watching ads helps a lot in Monster Masters. Daily rewards are doubled if you watch ads, which are usually very short. Some eggs can also be hatched before the stipulated time if you watch the short ads.

Final Thoughts

That was all about the Monster Masters Beginners Guide from our side. The game is a pretty good competitive game, if you like monster battles and strategy games. Plan your strategies, upgrade your monsters, and battle with them, not much could go wrong. Just keep the said points in mind, and you will find yourself having no trouble while playing this game.
