1. The game originally came as a prank

The idea of this game was taken from an April fool prank. Traveling approximately 80 miles and catching 8 Pokémons per minute, the player’s final tally was 11,400 Pokémons in 24 hours. He caught 139 Shiny Pokémon as well. It is one of the most unique facts about the game.

Since Pokémon Go was a very famous game and it was a massive success, the statistics of the game are huge. Pokémon Go had 15 million downloads in its first week of release. It also set a new record by generating $200m in revenue in the first month, earning seven times more than Candy Crush in its first month, and nearly doubling Clash Royale.

According to the Pokémon Go encyclopedia and SimilarWeb, at one stage Pokémon Go’s downloads surpassed Tinder on Android devices, with 60% of US downloaders using it daily for around 43 minutes. For the unfamiliar, Tinder is an online dating and geosocial networking application.
