Star Resonance might be a new name for Bandai Namco’s Blue Protocol, as the previously canceled MMORPG will be coming to mobile and PC platforms. With the full title in some translations credited as Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, the game has also opened pre-registrations in China ahead of its China-exclusive beta test.
From the details known, the development of the game is from Shanghai Bokura Network Technology, which seems to be funded by Tencent Games. Note that this confirmation of Tencent Games working with Bandai Namco goes back to last year when there were rumors of both teams working closely to launch the game globally on mobile, which didn’t happen.
Star Resonance brings a gorgeous world to explore with a heavy emphasis on customization
This adventure MMORPG is almost Blue Protocol with a few changes, so there are some speculations as to why the game was canceled in the first place and if they did, why this was even brought back to the players. According to the description on the China store page, this game is “part of the Blue Protocol IP“.
That being said, Star Resonance is described as a title that takes us into a vibrant anime-inspired world where they take on the role of adventurers tasked with restoring the balance of a crumbling civilization. From the new promotional video released, the title looks to have gameplay combining exploration, intense battles, and creative customization. Star Resonance also features parkour gameplay and flying across various terrains, from flatlands to city walls.
Adding to its charm is the ability to create highly personalized avatars with up to 120+ adjustable body features and 250+ dye-and-match options. Beyond battles, players can enjoy casual elements such as social parties, leisure farms, and photo-taking moments are also present, so the game promises a rich blend of action and storytelling.
As of now, players from China can participate in the Closed Beta of Star Resonance by filling out the questionnaire, which will end on the 19th of December, 2024. After this, the beta will begin, although the dates are not out yet. You can also access the store page here.
