Code Geass: Lost Stories, the strategic tower defense title will be bidding goodbyes to the mobile gaming realm as its shut down has been confirmed. The developers of Code Geass: Lost Stories have announced that the game will cease service on August 29, 2024.
The reason for shut down of Code Geass: Lost Stories hasn’t been revealed
Code Geass: Lost Stories, developed by f4samurai and DMM Games and published by KOMOE TECHNOLOGY, is an engaging game that combines RPG and action genres with tower-defense-inspired gameplay. The game draws its inspiration from the anime and manga franchise Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, created by Sunrise.
Despite its initial promise, Code Geass: Lost Stories is shutting down, leaving players with limited time to enjoy the game. The shutdown, set for August 29, 2024, means players won’t be able to log into their accounts anymore. It’s surprising since the game, which launched globally on September 13, 2023, didn’t even last a year.
The management team expressed regret over this decision and asked for players’ understanding, though they didn’t disclose specific reasons for why this game was shut down. I think the reasons are pretty evident, although I might be wrong.
The game’s downloads were quite low, showing 100,000+ on Android nearly a year after release, which likely wasn’t enough to generate the desired revenue, despite the decent reviews it garnered. The data from AppMagic also conveys the same, the downloads were below 5,000 for last month, so the game was failing to attract new players.
Coming to the shutdown schedule, starting from July 29, 2024, you won’t be able to download or make purchases related to the game. Additionally, both the game’s service and its official social media accounts will close on August 29, 2024.
