- Codename: Outpost looks to offer a survival experience in an open-world setting.
- There is speculation that Codename: Outpost could be Rust mobile.
- The test will begin in early November 2024 in China.
Tencent is preparing to launch Codename: Outpost, a first-person open-world survival mobile game. The closed beta recruitment phase for the game’s China testing will run from October 24 to November 3, with the test scheduled to begin in early November 2024 for Codename: Outpost.
Codename: Outpost might be the mobile version of Rust, which Tencent is reportedly working on
Codename: Outpost will blend elements of open-world exploration, construction, and multiplayer survival. As per the description, the game focuses on you stranded on a desert island struggling to survive against fierce environments, wild animals, and each other. The gameplay also seems to offer construction mechanics, so you can build bases, craft weapons, and secure yourselves.
Now, coming to the interesting part of this title. With Tencent reportedly involved in Rust Mobile’s development with Level Infinite as a publisher, there is growing speculation that Codename: Outpost may be sharing similarities or even serve as the mobile version of the popular multiplayer survival game by Facepunch Studios.
The description of this game closely aligns with the gameplay description of Rust, so it is interesting to see if this is a fact. However, there are no official confirmations either that Codename: Outpost would tie to Rust Mobile, so as of now, this remains a speculation. If this indeed is true, then Rust might be coming to mobile under a different name.
During this whole testing phase, only Android users will get access via the Tencent Pioneer app. On top of that, all of the in-game content will be kept confidential, so participants will not be allowed to share any media or installation files from the game. So if you are from China, the closed beta registrations for Codename: Outpost are open now till the 3rd of November, 2024.
Details concerning the release dates for China and the global market remain under wraps. Keep an eye on this space as I’ll update if anything’s available about the same.
