AR-based games have their dedicated audience, and if you are among them, then there is a new Disney game you might want to keep an eye on. Disney Step is an upcoming AR-based treasure-finding game, set for a launch in Spring 2025. Details regarding the game are very slim, however it appears to be only getting a release in Japan for now.

From the looks of it, Disney Step appears to be an AR-based exploration game where you will be able to explore your neighborhoods and look for treasures. The details regarding the game have been very slim and honestly, it is surprising that there have been no major announcements from Disney regarding the game either. You will be able to collect in-game Disney goodies as prizes from the treasures.
The gameplay mechanics look similar to Pokemon GO where you will have to explore real-life surroundings to get rewarded in the game. The major difference will be the battling system which won’t be there in Disney Step. Thus the game appears to be a more casual styled gameplay suitable for younger audiences. You will be accompanied by Disney Characters like Mickey and his friends who will assist you in the treasure hunt.
A preliminary test launch is being conducted for the game on September 26, 2024, for which the recruitments are still going on. If you are interested and eligible for the test, as it is happening in Japan, be sure to access it via the official website. The details regarding the game, as stated before are very thin, hence stay tuned for further updates from the developers.
Regarding the launch details, as stated before the Disney Step appears to be a Japan-exclusive launch as of now. Maybe in the future, the developers will release global editions. The trailer released for the game is also in all Japanese, advocating an all-Japanese launch. As per Nintenderos, the game is expecting a Spring 2025 launch in Japan.
