eFootball 2022 Mobile: Konami postponed the release of the new game to Spring 2022

To much disappointment of their fanbase, Konami today announced that the release mobile port of their sports flagship title eFootball has been postponed from Autumn 2021 to Spring 2022. Upon its release for consoles last month, eFootball faced a huge backlash for its glitches and bugs, with today finally Konami dropping the ball on its upcoming mobile release.

eFootball is the popular football simulation video game developed and published by Konami. It is a free-to-play game after being completely rebranded from the original Pro Evolution Soccer series to the eFootball series. Well, for those who are thinking about what has happened with their household name Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), it has been let go. So, simply told, the future titles will come by the name eFootball.

eFootball 2022 mobile release postponed: What caused the delay

Earlier this July on the anniversary of the franchise, Konami had announced that for the first time, the game will be released across all platforms and with additional cross-platform support. The PC and console counterparts have already been released last month but the game was very poorly received by the fans because of the countless bugs and glitches. The mobile version along with the online features of the console ie the entire PvP mode comprising of Online Leagues, My Club, Match Pass was initially set to come out in Autumn 2021 as part of the original roadmap set out by Konami. According to their latest post, everything has been delayed till the Spring of next year.

Konami further announced that the delay is mainly to improve the quality of the game. The developers felt they needed more time to deliver a proper football game that can support cross-platform properly without any issues or glitches. This delay will give developers more time to address the main issues before the official launch.

In addition to this, the devs have stated they are henceforth delaying the announcement of the players that are included in eFootball PES 2021 but not in eFootball 2022 at launch. They have no immediate plans to change their carryover feature but will defer the expiration dates for all the eFootball points accumulated by players over time so that all the points gained can be used in eFootball 2022 upon launch. Konami is also bringing back players in the eFootball shop from 15th November 2021 but with the exception that this time it will be the Legends players only and not their Iconic Moments (IM) version.

Players are disappointed with Konami due to lack of content

Needless to say, the fans are upset with this decision from Konami. The delay with the eFootball 2022 mobile release leading it to totally getting postponed has brought widespread discontent in the community. People who had saved their eFootball points for months in order to use them in the new game now have to wait for more months for additional content and new players.

Konami had released eFootball PES 2021 as a season update, from PES 2020 with the reason of taking more time to develop eFootball 2022 as a better game. Despite that, the company has failed to deliver the game in due time with the console users receiving a half-baked game with the mobile users now having to wait till next year for the new update to arrive. We can only hope and assume that eFootball 2022 mobile will be a decent game when it finally arrives and actually meets the expectations while waiting patiently with eFootball PES 2021 with no new additional content.
