Genshin Impact x Val Thorens collaboration: The experience of Genshin-themed events in the Alps

Newest collaboration is on its way in Tevyat!

Genshin Impact, the popular adventure RPG developed by miHoYo in 2020 has announced on their social media handles about a special real-life collaboration event of Genshin Impact x Val Thorens, that will be held in the Alps. While Genshin Impact has previously collaborated with a lot of companies, this is a big deal as the partnering resort. Val Thorens is one of the biggest and most popular locations for skiers around the world.

Val Thorens, located in the French Alps at an altitude of 7,500 feet, is one of the largest ski areas that has gained popularity among tourists for its picturesque views and amazing skiing facilities, and other winter activities. It has even been part of the Tour de France multiple times.

The collaboration between the resort comes after the recently-released Patch 2.3 “Shadows Amidst Snowstorms” which has been one of the most well-received updates for the gaming title. The update saw travelers returning to the frigid snowy peaks of Dragonspine. Players will also be engaged in an event creating snowmen of their own and bringing them to the Serenitea Pot.

Set in a breathtaking location, the collaboration ties well with the in-game event. Looking at the promotional images posted by miHoYo, it looks like those people who will arrive at the location will be able to take part in the leisure activities offered by Val Thorens, with a touch of elements from the world of Teyvat.

The Shanghai-based company has more surprises planned for the players which will be revealed in the coming days. Starting from December 14th of 2021, there will be various mysterious events full of exciting content. Currently, the crossover event seems to be only a real-world exclusive event. As of now, there are no hints for an in-game event.

Final Thoughts

The event is part of miHoYo’s continued effort to grow its influence in markets other than China and comes after the previously held collaboration and crossover events like Klee’s birthday celebration, Genshin x Sweet Paradise and Wings of Feasting (KFC Glider) event.

While not all collaboration events have gone down well with the player base, it is safe to assume that this collaboration with the Skiing resort will not be controversial. The reason is that restricted only to the people who will be traveling to France. It will not grant any in-game rewards or progress.
