Girls’ Frontline: Blue Butterfly Contract reimagines the beloved series with co-op shooter gameplay, arriving this year on mobile

Are you happy with this third-person co-op shooter approach?

Story Highlights
  • Girls' Frontline: Blue Butterfly Contract lets you take on enemy waves in rea-ttime alongside adorable T-Dolls.
  • The game offers open level exploration, dynamic combat, role-based teamwork, anime-style visuals, and more.
  • It is set to release in 2026 itself, though the exact date has not been announced yet.

Sunborn Network has just revealed a new expansion to the beloved Girls’ Frontline IP with the TPS, Girls’ Frontline: Blue Butterfly Contract, set to launch this year on mobile. This announcement came during the IP’s 10th anniversary celebration in China, where they also introduced another project, Reverse Collapse: F.

Get ready to dive into a world where reality and virtuality collide

So, MICA and Hecate team, known for Girls’ Frontline: Fire Control, is developing Girls’ Frontline: Blue Butterfly Contract. Unlike the traditional strategic formula this series is known for, this title leans towards a 4-player co-op third-person shooter experience, and I can’t wait to see this change.

Lore-wise, it takes place in a mysterious, evolving world, where both reality and virtual space have begun to merge. Soon, massive threats arrive, including a globe-spanning colossal entity and even a strange nation, all while a silent butterfly watches from beyond. Now, I’m already loving the setting here.

You can team up, explore, and fight alongside T-Dolls in fast-paced combat

You can once again fight alongside the T-Dolls from Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium in combat, defeating hordes of enemies while coordinating with your team and adapting in real-time. It also has a The Division Resurgence-like open-level design, so you can expect to explore and engage more freely without worrying about grids.

Overall, from what I’ve seen so far, the game looks very promising, and I’m sure the team won’t regret this shooter approach. The content looks solid, especially with the GFL2’s Dolls, open-level exploration, dynamic combat, anime-style visuals, and more. I can’t wait to see how it turns out when it arrives this year.

Girls’ Frontline: Blue Butterfly Contract is launching on mobile this year. That said, there is no information available yet regarding the exact launch date, so stay tuned. Meanwhile, you can check out our upcoming mobile games list.
