Google Play has announced that the Indie Games Fund, their $2 million in funding for independent developers has been relaunched in Latin America. Applications are open starting August 14th to September 13th, 2024 although a priority will be given to applications submitted on or before August 30th, 2024.
Upto 10 studios from Latin America can get the benefits from Google Play’s Indie Games Fund
The fund aims to provide 10 selected studios with between $150,000 and $200,000, alongside hands-on support to help them mold their ideas and grow as a business. This fund applies to indie developers who have already released a game on any platform, be it mobile, PC, or console. The selected studios will be invested financially for growth with no loss of equity, so they can focus on their growth.
Additionally, there are a few more criteria to follow as well. One key requirement is that a portion of the funding must be used to port the game to Android and make it available on the Google Play Store, including making it available on Google Play Pass. Another criterion is that the applicant should be a small indie games developer, with no more than 50 employees in the team.
Google Play isn’t limiting this opportunity to any particular type of game. Whether premium or free-to-play, all sorts of business models are invited to apply. But again, all these selected games have to be compatible with the services of the Google Play Pass, which means they should offer all content unlocked for subscribers.
If you are an aspiring indie game developer from LATAM and fit all the requirements, you can go ahead and apply here. You can read more details on the official website.
