HoYoverse has announced that the eagerly anticipated Version 2.3 update for Honkai: Star Rail, titled “Farewell Penacony,” will be released on June 19, 2024. This significant update will conclude the storyline for the latest map addition, Penacony. It will also introduce two new 5-star characters, Firefly and Jade. Additionally, the update will unveil a new feature in the Simulated Universe called the Divergent Universe, guided by Mr. Screwllum.

Divergent Universe is the latest addition to the Simulated Universe modes in Version 2.3
If you’re a fan of the Simulated Universe, you’re going to love what’s coming next. Aboard the Radiant Feldspar, Mr. Screwllum is leading a new project called the “Divergent Universe,” and it’s packed with gameplay improvements that you won’t want to miss.
- Arithmetic Mapping: If your character’s level is below the current Equilibrium Level Cap, it’ll automatically level up to meet the cap. No more grinding just to catch up.
- Equation Feature: Now, combining buffs from two different Paths grants you new combat abilities once you hit the required amount. It’s like getting a bonus for being creative with your strategy.
- Restart Challenge: With the new Restart Challenge option, you can regroup and try again without force-stopping the game. It makes for a richer, more strategic, and overall more fun gaming experience.
I am personally into optimizing my gameplay and exploring new features, the Divergent Universe is about to become my new favorite playground after challenging the Swarm Disaster, and the Gold and Gears in Simulated Universe.
Origami Birds mini-game
If you love mini-games, Version 2.3 has something special for you. Origami Birds are making their way onto the Radiant Feldspar, bringing a fresh arcade challenge. You’ll need to achieve eliminations within a set number of moves to boost the birds’ Combat Power. It’s a fun and strategic way to test your skills and think ahead.
During the Origami Bird Clash event, you can participate in Story Challenges and freely battle friends from across the universe. If you enjoy some friendly competition, this event is perfect for you. Show off your skills, challenge your friends, and see who comes out on top.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.3 will bring two new playable characters and reruns
1. Firefly
The latest Stellaron Hunter member to become playable is Firefly. This character is unique, encased in a mechanical armor called “SAM.” Firefly was born as a weapon and suffers from Entropy Loss Syndrome due to genetic alterations. Her journey with the Stellaron Hunters is all about seeking the purpose of life and challenging destiny. If you’re a fan of powerful and versatile fighters, you should check out Firefly in Version 2.3, where she debuts as the first limited 5-star character.
Firefly is a Fire-type element character with the Path of Destruction. If you enjoy dealing with AoE damage and swift strikes, you’ll love using Firefly alongside her SAM armor. Her ultimate transforms her into a powerful mech capable of devastating attacks, while her talent boosts damage in a special state. You should take advantage of her ability to move swiftly and block attacks, making her a formidable fighter in any situation.
2. Jade
The next 5-star character to debut in version 2.3 is Jade, coming as the second banner to be featured. As a senior manager in the IPC Strategic Investment Department and a member of the Ten Stonehearts, Jade is known for her cold yet elegant demeanor. The other playable members of the Ten Stonehearts that were released in the earlier version were Topaz and Aventurine, both of which are doing well in the current meta.
Jade has the Quantum-type element with the Path of Erudition. Jade’s gameplay revolves around supporting allies and dealing Quantum damage. Her Nephrite skill boosts an ally’s attack and speed while allowing Jade to deal extra damage. She accumulates Credits from enemy attacks, using them for powerful follow-up attacks. With her strategic playstyle and ability to enhance allies, Jade is expected to be a valuable asset on the battlefield.
3. Ruan Mei and Argenti rerun
If you’ve been eagerly waiting for reruns, now’s the time to rejoice. Limited 5-star characters, Ruan Mei and Argenti are making a comeback in Version 2.3 Banners. Ruan Mei, wielding an Ice-type element and following the Path of Harmony, joins Firefly in the first half. Meanwhile, Argenti, known for his Physical-type element and Path of Erudition, teams up with Jade in the second half.
