Hyper Front is a brand-new FPS game released for the mobile platform by NetEase Games, a Chinese gaming development company, which is set to be launched in the SEA countries of Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore on the 20th of January, 2022 at 10 A.M. (UTC +8). All account data and progress from the beta tests will be retained, although the APK file itself will be rendered invalid. Therefore, the players will have to download the official soft launch version from Google Play.
Hyper Font is an FPS, that is, a first-person shooter game with 5v5-format gameplay and multiple game modes. It also constitutes a separate ranked and unranked mode, divided among modes such as Search and Destroy and Arms Battle. The game in itself can be said to be similar to the popular PC title Valorant.
Device requirements and other announcements
The developers have also answered queries about the game requirements on their official Twitter account. It has been stated the game requires 2 GB+ memory or RAM, OpenGL 3.1+. The version of Android has to be 6.0 and above to run.
The developers have addressed that people who will try to or prefer downloading apps from third-party websites such as TapTap should try to refrain from doing so. It hasn’t been released on sites other than Google Play yet. Therefore, it can cause issues when downloading the game.
No announcement has been made as of yet, regarding the details of an iOS release of the game. But, it has been revealed that there will be beta tests for iOS users, moving down the line. No announcements for global release have been made either.
NetEase’s global ambitions for the mobile gaming industry
It is evident that NetEase is trying to catch the attention of the crowd in the current market, which is hot with the shooter genre of their multiplayer FPS game. The game can be a huge success, given the above statement given that the players have come forward with positive reviews.
The soft launch in the four countries will allow NetEase to work with the selected reviews of a smaller number of people and work with the in-game issues (if any), before a global release worldwide. This is indeed a good move and we have to wait to see what the developers bring on the plate further down the line.
