The reason why Indonesia might ban PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, and Mobile Legends

PUBG Mobile and Free Fire are well-known and also top Battle Royale mobile games. Both of these games being highly popular in Asia, do seem to be quite addictive and teens are spending quite some time playing these games as claimed by the Regent. Which is the reason why an Indonesian “district” is demanding to ban these games. Bustari Maller, Head of Communication and Information in Mukomuko, had submitted this document,

Indonesia ban pubg mobile, free fire, mobile legends
Official statement

The English translation of the mentioned points says,

  1. Online games such as PUBG, Freefire, Mobile Legends, Higgs Domino, and others like it that are provided via smartphones or PC
  2. The negative effects of online games are huge, from both child development and educational standpoint. Children have become addicted to online games and hence should receive serious attention from the government immediately;
  3. Children who are addicted to online games will suffer a visual illness, obesity, and even Quervain syndrome;
  4. From a psychological standpoint, the individualism and selfishness of a child should not be the sole responsibility of parents, and the attention of the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information is requested by blocking all the aforementioned online games.

Reason for this petition, added by Bustari Maller: The local government received complaints regarding the dangerous impacts of these games on students.

PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Mobile Legends, and other games seem to distract students from their education and are taking a toll on their mental health. It is to note that the petition states to ban these games in the “District” of Mukomuko.
