NEXON Co. Ltd, the Japanese-South Korean based video game developing company, announced on December 16, 2021, that they will be merging their two subsidiary studios, NAT Games and Nexon Games to form a new team of developers as Nexon Games who will create diversified games for the global audience. The two gaming behemoths NAT Games and Nexon GT merged to create Nexon Games in order to target a global set of audiences.
However, the merger between the two studios hasn’t been finalized and will be finalized at a general meeting of shareholders on February 8, 2022, and the official merger will be on March 31, 2022.
About NAT Games and Nexon GT
NAT Games is an award-winning game development company well known worldwide for their MMORPGs like HIT and V4 and has given many other popular mobile games including OVERHIT and Blue Archives. HIT when launched in 2015 took the top spot-on Google play and Appstore. Also, HIT2 has been under development.
Nexon GT as an individual company has also achieved a lot and given many MMORPGs and is known for the popular first-person shooting game, ‘Sudden Attack’. The game has achieved revenue growth of 211% in the third quarter of this year due to the excellent live operations in the 16th year of the game.
Nexon Games will lead the company in the global market
According to the official press release, the CEO of NAT games, Yong Hyun Park will be holding the same position in the merged company Nexon Games. And the board of the company will include the current CEO of Nexon GT, Ji Hwan Shin, and CEO of Nexon Korea Corporation, Junghun Lee.
Nexon Co. stated that combining the creative capabilities of NAT games and Nexon GT’s proven capability in First-person shooting games as Nexon Games will lead the company in the global market for PC, mobile, and console games.
Nexon CEO Jeongheon Lee said, “Through the merger of the two companies, we will prepare a new growth engine by developing creative new products targeting the global market and discovering platforms. I will spare no effort,”
NAT Games that was working on an upcoming title Project Magnum and Durango like Project DX, will now be working with Nexon GT in their new company Nexon Games to produce fantastic global hits.
