Netflix Games recruits Joseph Staten as Creative Director for a new AAA Multiplatform game

A big boost for Netflix!

Netflix Games have roped in former co-creator of the Halo and Destiny franchises Joseph Staten to their team. Joseph who recently parted ways with Microsoft after nine years, announced via Twitter that he is joining Netflix Games as the Creative Director for a brand-new AAA multiplatform game and original IP, the details of which are currently unknown.

Staten’s arrival provides a significant boost to Netflix Games

Joseph Staten was the creative director for Halo Infinite under Bungie Inc and the cinematic director for the first three Halo games. He was the writer and director of cinematics for Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2, worked as a writer on Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, and was the writer and creative director for Halo 3: ODST.

Staten later left Bungie for Microsoft and focused on franchise strategy for Microsoft Studios products. In 2020, he rejoined the franchise as campaign project lead and later as head of creative, leading Halo Infinite. In January, he departed 343 Industries to join Xbox’s publishing team before confirming his Microsoft exit on April 8, 2023.

However, just a week after leaving Microsoft, Staten confirmed that his new adventure will begin with Netflix Games, and will oversee the developments as the Creative Director for the streaming giant’s upcoming AAA Multiplatform game. Having a veteran like Staten is a big boost for any entity, especially someone who is ambitious like Netflix.

Although the details of the game are unknown, Netflix continues to march ahead in the gaming sector. Back in October last year, Netflix was reportedly working on the development of 55 new games and announced that 40 more games will be added in 2023. For now, everything looks good for Netflix.
