The mobile games studio known as SYBO, which is responsible for the most downloaded game in history, Subway Surfers, has partnered with J Balvin to introduce the popular musician as a unique character in the game. This groundbreaking initiative was developed in conjunction with PlanetPlay, the inaugural environmentally-conscious game marketplace. The joint effort is aimed at bolstering the organization’s worldwide environmental initiatives dedicated to countering carbon emissions.
J Balvin and Subway Surfers join forces to fight CO2 emissions
A part of the earnings from Balvin’s purchases of in-game characters will be directed, via PlanetPlay’s platform, to the Hongera Clean Cookstove Project in Kenya, which is a non-profit organization with the goal of reducing CO2 emissions by providing clean and energy-efficient cookstoves to various regions in Kenya. Following the acquisition of the character, players have the opportunity to exchange “green coins” from PlanetPlay’s digital marketplace for additional in-game items.
Furthermore, special edition t-shirts with unique designs inspired by J Balvin and this collaboration will be accessible through the official PlanetPlay store. These t-shirts will come bundled with a variable reduction in carbon emissions, starting at a minimum of 100 kg CO2.
The extent of carbon emissions reduction will be visually represented in the design of the item, allowing individuals to demonstrate their contributions to a healthier planet. PlanetPlay’s ultimate objective is to offset 100,000 tons of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to the emissions produced by 40 concerts attended by 100,000 guests.
Balvin’s character is accessible from today until November 19, and his latest single, “Dientes,” featuring DJ Khaled and Usher, is also included in the game for fans to relish during their gameplay. Participants can engage through social media, as Subway Surfers is encouraging its community to surpass Balvin’s top score. A fortunate victor will be granted a signed prize from J Balvin, in-game rewards, and other exciting perks.
