Bigetron Red Aliens, former PUBG Mobile World Champions, going through changes following PMGC failure

The fallen-from-grace team to undergo changes in a bid to improve performance

Bigetron Red Aliens, popularly referred to as BTR, is one of the most successful PUBG Mobile teams if not the most successful on the global esports stage. The former world champions, despite having one of the best lineups on paper, have continuously struggled to stay on top of their game in the last esports calendar. The continuous string of losses led to a few changes being announced yesterday in the Bigetron Red Aliens team.

Riddled with inconsistent performances, BTR failed to defend a lead of more than 200 points for the PMGC 2021 race and also performed mediocrely in the Spring PMPL. There was a ray of hope after a 2nd place finishes in the PMPL SEA Finals and acquiring a slot into the PMGC. The final straw came when they failed to qualify into the finals of PMGC, which makes it the first-ever tournament final they have failed to qualify in since the inception of PUBG Mobile esports in 2018.

Bigetron Red Aliens: Changes in the team setup

A press conference was held to announce major changes in the BTR lineup and management, which have been discussed below. The full press conference can be viewed here.

Resignation of manager Isfantasea and new manager

Isfan Satriya Wijaya, or Isfantasea, has stepped down as the manager of the BTR lineup following the team’s string of bad performances. Isfan has been with the team since about 2019 and has also been there when the team became the world champions and went on to win other titles. A friendly figure to the players, the departure of Isfan might come with some change in the internal attitude of the team for the better or worse.

Meanwhile, Isfan was replaced by Jerroy for the post of manager. It has to be said that Jerroy was a familiar face for the roster prior to this and should blend in with the players well. Jerroy has stated that he has already planned various programs in order to ensure discipline and create healthy habits to make the players grow as individuals while also keeping them ready to face any challenge.

2. Retention of Jangs as coach

Despite ongoing rumors about changes in the position of the coach of Bigetron Red Aliens, it has been confirmed that Jangs will remain the coach and will continue to guide the team moving into the 5th competitive season of the regional tournaments. Jangs has created new training plans and strategies for the team which will be put to test once the pro leagues start.

3. Establishment of BTR ION as a coexisting lineup

BTR ION, the secondary PUBG Mobile lineup of Bigetron acquired the complete roster of Victim Esports in November of last year. Since then they have done pretty well for themselves and have proven their worth. Therefore the BTR management has decided to turn them into a full-fledged lineup complete with their own analyst, manager, and coach.

The analyst has been confirmed to be former BTR Red Aliens player Kingzz, the rest of the positions are yet to be announced. The ION lineup is being prepared in order to make them a world-class lineup like the BTR RA and make them participate in international tournaments.

4. The future of BTR’s “Super Ryzen”

Muhammad “Ryzen” Albi, nicknamed Super Ryzen by the fans has been an integral part of the BTR team and has been regarded as a top rusher worldwide since his debut in the game. Currently holding the record for having the most kills in the global stage of PUBG Mobile, excluding the Chinese ecosystem, Ryzen has been hailed as one of the best players out there. But he seems to have been out of touch with his usual clutch gameplay since the second half of the 2021 esports calendar.

Following the arrival of star player Uhigh, Ryzen has also been benched multiple times owing to his performance. His contract has ended at the end of 2021, and there have been no renewals approved from his side despite BTR offering him another contract. He has reportedly asked for more time to think whether he wants to take a break from competitive or renew, which leaves his future clouded in uncertainty. It is hoped that he will continue and a decision will be taken in the coming days.

Final Thoughts

Bigetron Red Aliens’ fall from grace has been rather remarkable. Despite having some of the best players in the world in terms of individual skill sets, BTR has struggled to find its form ever since the last PMGC. The announced changes are supposed to bring back their lost glory and it remains to be seen if it does come back.

The management also answered questions regarding the upcoming Asian Games and said that they are ready to give up their whole roster for national duty if asked to do so. Thus, with the plans set for the future, and the stakes riding on it, we can only wish for the fallen giants of the game to rise again, stronger than before.
