What an incredible year for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, with countless partnerships like MLBB x ESIC, MLBB x SEF, MLBB x Qiddiya, and more, all focused on improving the mobile esports ecosystem and elevating MLBB esports to new heights. MOONTON Games is truly on fire and we have to praise them, and this latest news is great for the community as MLBB has been selected as the exclusive Esports Title for the Women’s category at the Asian Esports Games (AEG).

Twenty regional teams are going to participate in this event, which is set to start on November 25 and run until November 27, 2024. We will get to see a few new countries competing in this tournament for the first time alongside the established powerhouses.

MLBB is selected as the exclusive women’s esports title for AEG 2024

MOONTON Games has announced that MLBB will serve as the exclusive esports title for the women’s competition at the AEG. This is a piece of great news, as it will help elevate regional competition and foster inclusivity within both the mobile esports ecosystem and MLBB esports. This event is organized by the Thailand Esports Federation (TESF) and is sanctioned by the Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF).

“This year’s Asian Esports Games marks another huge milestone for women’s esports. The representation of 20 regions in the MLBB women’s tournament exemplifies our commitment to diversity and the dedication of AESF and TESF in creating a competitive platform that encourages inclusivity globally. We are thrilled to witness the strengthening of the esports ecosystem with more countries embracing womens’ esports, allowing the MLBB community to continue breaking boundaries.”

Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games

Twenty regional women’s esports teams will compete in this exciting event, representing regions across Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and the Middle East. You will get to witness countries like Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Nepal, are making their debut, alongside powerhouses like Thailand, Indonesia, China, and the Philippines.

I am especially rooting for Nepal as they are representing South Asia. Recently, Trained To Kill (T2K), a men’s esports team from Nepal, competed in the MLBB MSC 2024 and showcased an impressive performance as first-timers.

Regional inclusivity takes the spotlight at the upcoming AEG 2024

This is a huge win for everyone, right from the lesser-represented regions getting a chance to showcase their potential, and to those that will get similar opportunities in the future. It is also major progress for females who want to enter this realm of Esports, as women’s teams are finally getting the spotlight and opportunity to prove themselves on the international stage in this male-dominated esports.

I truly hope that with MLBB’s return to India, we can someday see Indian teams participating in these high-level tournaments as well. It recently relaunched as Moba Legends 5v5 on the App Store after six months in India, following its Android release.

If you are planning to watch the tournament, you should check out the Indonesian national team, which is mainly made up of players from Team Vitality. They recently lost their 24-match winning streak after getting cleanly swept by Smart Omega Empress, a Filipino team, in the MWI 2024 Grand Finals. We can look forward to a potential rematch between both teams, as Smart Omega Empress is also expected to take part in the AEG 2024.
