It is a part of the hit Diablo franchise, the timeline of the upcoming hack and slash game lies in between the storyline of Diablo II and Diablo III to release on PC, iOS, and Android. Designed initially for play on mobile devices, the game was later also developed for PC and the developers launched it on both platforms in June (Note: PC is going to be in the Open Beta phase on launch). At its core, Diablo Immortal is a mobile game but Blizzard has been vocal about its efforts to make both versions of the game a great experience, no matter the hardware. Naturally, a question that arose with a game being released on multiple platforms is whether it will support cross-progression?
How to enable crossplay and cross-progression in Diablo Immortal
Activision Blizzard confirmed on their official website that players will be able to switch between mobile and PC seamlessly with their progression being intact. This feature is automatically enabled and logging in to one’s Battle.net account will ensure progress is carried over. Here’s how to enable crossplay and cross-progression:
- Mobile players have an option to create guest accounts. However, progress on guest accounts is saved only on the device it was created unless you enable cloud backup.
- To enable cross-progression, login into an existing or new Battle.net account rather than using a guest account.
- Being the first game from the Diablo series that launched on mobile, Diablo Immortal also brings crossplay which ensures gamers on mobile can enjoy the game with their friends who are playing on PC in addition to mobile.
Diablo Immortal, one of the most anticipated games has shown a lot of promise with great gameplay and graphics. Players had a long wait for the game after it was announced at BlizzCon 2018 and has since been on show during its alpha and beta versions.
Activision Blizzard’s vision to create a AAA game for mobile has been clear with Diablo Immortal. Wyatt Cheng, principal game designer at Blizzard Entertainment said to Washington Post, “Diablo Immortal is going to change a lot of people’s minds on what they think of as a mobile game. That was one of our goals since the beginning. Let’s elevate the standards for what people can expect from a mobile game.”
