Genshin Impact 3.7 Update Spiral Abyss: Overview, How to clear 36 stars

Tips to clear the most challenging part of the 3.7 Update!

Genshin Impact in Version 3.7 update has brought a new set of enemies for both Floor 11 and Floor 12 in the Spiral Abyss. Since these are the topmost floors of the Abyss, ensure that you have units that are at least sufficiently built for the teams they are in. There are tons of team variations you can use.

But if you want to try the teams suggested in this guide, you should use your units that might be better alternatives and substitutes. In this guide, we will explain the new changes in the current Spiral Abyss, how to clear them in the current Genshin Impact 3.7 patch update, and the most optimal teams that can be used.

Ley Line Disorder: All party members’ Normal Attack DMG increased by 50%.

First Half

  • In the first wave, enemies spawn near the Monolith. The Geo Specters attack the Monolith, while the other Specters target you. The Hydro and Cryo Specters chase you quickly, so focus on defeating the Geo Specter first. This will draw the remaining Specters toward you. Once the Geo Specter is dealt with, handle the other Specters. Remember that when the Specters die, their explosions damage the Monolith, so keep a distance from it to minimize its HP loss.
  • In the second wave, the Mitachurls target the Monolith, while the Specters attack you. Prioritize defeating the Mitachurls. However, due to their proximity to the Monolith and yourself, the Specters’ attacks might hit the Monolith while targeting you. If you have Anemo crowd control abilities, use them to pull the Mitachurls away from the Monolith before attacking. If you lack Anemo crowd control, repeatedly attacking the Mitachurls to draw their attention towards you instead of the Monolith can be an alternative strategy.
  • In the third wave, only the two Hydro Specters target the Monolith, while the other enemies pursue you. Prioritize dealing with one Hydro Specter at a time since they spawn apart. While engaging the Hydro Specters, be aware that the Frostarm Lawachurl with a Condensed Ice Aura is also present and frequently performs a slam dunk attack.

Second Half

  • In the first wave, the Mitachurl targets the Monolith while the Hilichurl Rogues pursue you. Prioritize defeating the Mitachurl while allowing the Rogues to chase you. After eliminating the Mitachurl, be sure to deal with any Slimes summoned by the Rogues occasionally.
  • In the second wave, the two Eremite Sunfrosts target the Monolith, while the Loremaster summons her scorpion and pursues you. Prioritize defeating the Sunfrosts near the Monolith while allowing the Loremaster to teleport toward you. Once the scorpion arrives, focus on eliminating it first to paralyze the Loremaster due to its large area of effect (AoE) attack. This sequence ensures that the enemies are drawn away from the Monolith. Finally, defeat all remaining enemies, ideally far away from the Monolith.

First Half

  • During the Lector encounter, brute force is necessary to defeat it. Pay close attention to its Electro Orb attacks, as they drain 20 Energy from all party members upon impact. When the Lector has its Electro shield active, the most effective elements to remove it are Pyro, Cryo, and Dendro. One efficient method is to use any Pyro character’s Pyro application which allows rapid shield removal.

Second Half

  • In the first wave, the four enemies spawn at a distance from each other but quickly chase after you. To manage them effectively, position yourself near one of the Grounded Shrooms, preferably the one at the back to allow more time for the Winged Shroom to reach you. This will draw the remaining enemies toward your location. Note that the Winged Shroom may fly out of reach for melee attacks, so if needed, prioritize defeating the Winged Shroom before focusing on the Grounded Shroom.
  • In the second wave, the Galehunter is positioned at the back while the Loremaster is at the front. By focusing on the Shroom at the back in the first wave, you will be near the Galehunter at the start of the second wave. Prioritize dealing with the Galehunter first since the Loremaster can teleport closer to you while the Galehunter does not. Keep in mind that as long as their spirit animals are alive, Anemo crowd control abilities cannot be used to pull them. However, gathering the enemies together is not difficult.

Chamber 3

First Half

  • In Chamber 3, there is a Cryo Node in the center that buffs enemies with +100% DEF and inflicts Cryo every 15 seconds. However, players can remove the buff by triggering elemental reactions on the enemies.
  • In the first wave, there is only one Skywatch enemy. Players can attack it directly, even though it hovers. Targeting its weak point is optional. If you find it difficult to hit the hovering enemy, you can paralyze it before attacking repeatedly.
  • The second wave features a single Mirror Maiden. There are no special tricks here; brute force is effective. However, be cautious of her teleportation skill. Time your Elemental Burst carefully to avoid wasting Energy if she teleports immediately after you unleash the Burst.

Second Half

  • In the first wave, 3 Abyss Mages spawn closely together. Anemo crowd control abilities work well to remove their shields, but having at least two different elements is sufficient to handle them.
  • The second wave consists of 2 Abyss Heralds that pursue you. Beware of their spinning wheel attack, which can stagger non-shielded characters. Additionally, their cross-shaped water slash increases the cooldown of already active Elemental Skills and Bursts. When they create a Hydro shield, Dendro is the most effective element to remove it, while Cryo can temporarily freeze the Herald, although it is slightly slower.

Optimal Team Comps to use on Floor 11

In the Leyline Monolith stages, consider adding an Anemo crowd control (CC) character to any of the teams. If you only have one Anemo CC character, it’s recommended to include them in the second half because there are more enemies in Chamber 2 and 3 compared to Chamber 1. In the first half, it is recommended to use Pyro, Cryo, or Dendro characters due to the presence of Electro Abyss Lectors.

Additionally, bringing a single-target DPS character is effective in this chamber. In the second half, having an Anemo character with crowd control (CC) abilities is recommended due to the presence of multiple enemies in Chamber 2 and 3. Additionally, Dendro or Cryo characters are effective in this half, particularly against the two Hydro Abyss Heralds.

Chamber 1

First Half

  • In the first wave, 3 Whopperflowers spawn together but frequently burrow and teleport across the arena. It’s advantageous to have at least 1 Anemo crowd-control character to gather them efficiently, particularly in the challenging second half. Defeating 1 Whopperflower will cause another to spawn until all six are defeated. Remember that Whopperflowers have a 35% damage resistance against all attacks and 75% resistance against their element, so bringing different elements, excluding Pyro/Cryo, is advisable to trigger more elemental reactions.
  • In the second wave, 3 Primal Constructs initially spawn in the middle of the arena, followed by another three at the front. Like Whopperflowers, these enemies can be gathered using Anemo crowd control, saving time by defeating them simultaneously rather than focusing on one at a time. The Primal Constructs can enter an invisible state, presenting three options: destroying the parts they leave behind and using Electro, inflicting Quicken (Electro and Dendro reaction) on the invisible part, or waiting for them to reappear after a while. The preferred method for many is to inflict Quicken as it is faster than the first option.

Second Half

  • In the first wave, Abyss Mages spawn together, allowing for quick damage dealing. However, they have different shields that require specific elemental counters (Hydro is weak to Dendro/Cryo, and Cryo is weak to Pyro/Electro). Once their shields are removed, they become easier to defeat.
  • In the second wave, three Abyss Heralds spawn apart but immediately chase after you. They have Cryo and Hydro shields, so bring the recommended elements to remove them. Focus on defeating the Wicked Torrent (Hydro Herald) as it can easily freeze you with its Frost Falls attack, draining your Stamina and increasing skill cooldowns. Be cautious of your Stamina and consider bringing a healer to manage the relentless attacks. Shields are not highly effective against the Heralds due to their relentless assault and the presence of multiple Heralds.

Chamber 2

First Half

  • You will only face the Jadeplume Terrorshroom in the first half. If you have melee DPS, stay within its attack range to easily dodge its short-range attacks. If you have a shielder or healer, brute force attack is effective.
  • Jadeplume has three states: Normal, Activated, and Scorched. In the Normal state, it has its default attacks. In the Activated state, fill the Fury bar with Electro attacks to trigger it. Jadeplume will have different attack modes but will eventually be paralyzed for 15 seconds.
  • The Scorched state occurs when Jadeplume is affected by Burning (Dendro+Pyro). Beware of its skill that can summon up to 4 Fungi, which wastes time. Destroy the spores within 3 seconds using Electro/Hydro/Pyro to prevent the Fungi from spawning. It is highly recommended to use Electro characters rather than Pyro characters to avoid the effects of Burning.

Second Half

  • The second half will have the Thunder Manifestation as the only enemy. It floats, making it challenging for melee characters to hit, but not impossible. There is a window when it floats near the ground, during which you should save and spam your Bursts. The Thunder Manifestation’s attacks are easy to avoid, especially with a shield provider in your team. Pay extra attention to the Electro walls and diving attack as they deal significant damage.
  • To deal with the Electro walls, dash through them when they are close to you, utilizing invincibility frames (I-frame) to avoid damage. Stay close to the Thunder Manifestation and continue dealing damage until the last moment the wall is near you. When the boss is at the edge of the arena, save your Burst and use Skills or abilities with short cooldowns. The Thunder Manifestation will likely teleport back to the center of the arena shortly, restarting its attack cycles.

Chamber 3

First Half

  • In the first half, there are two waves, each with 2 Consecrated enemies. It is recommended to focus on defeating the Horned Crocodile first in both waves, as it moves slower compared to the Fanged Beast. Once the Crocodile is taken care of, concentrate on a single Consecrated enemy to have more breathing room and easier avoidance of attacks. Choose the enemy with the lowest HP to prioritize.
  • During the battle, the enemies will summon Phagocytic Energy Blocks. Attack these blocks with elemental attacks to fill the bar and gain Phagocytic energy. Use this energy to paralyze the respective enemies. If the blocks are left alone for a while, they will enhance the attacks of the corresponding Consecrated enemies. Remember that you cannot crowd control them, but you can freeze them.

Second Half

  • In this chamber, you will face the Iniquitous Baptist, a boss with Hydro, Cryo, and Pyro elements. It periodically creates shields of each element, requiring you to bring a variety of elements to destroy the shields and create opportunities to deal damage. The most effective elements against each shield are: (Pyro breaking Cryo shield/Dendro breaking Hydro shield/Hydro breaking Pyro shield)
  • Each time a shield is destroyed, you will have a few seconds to attack the Baptist while it is paralyzed. After this brief window, it will create the next elemental shield. This cycle will continue until you defeat the boss.

Optimal Team Comps to use on Floor 12

In the First Half, it’s recommended to bring an Electro character for dealing with the Primal Constructs’ invisibility state. An Anemo character can be useful for crowd control in Chamber 1. It’s important to have a shielder or healer to handle the high damage from the Consecrated duo in the last chamber. In the Second Half, using a Burgeon team is recommended. Dendro and Pyro elements are effective against the Cryo and Hydro shields in Chamber 1. The Burgeon reaction (Dendro + Electro) is useful against the Thunder Manifestation in Chamber 2. The Burgeon team can also help remove the elemental shields of the Iniquitous Baptist in the last chamber.
