Honkai: Star Rail is introducing the Phase 2 banners, featuring Acheron and Aventurine in Version 2.6. Since it is a double banner, we will access each of the character’s strengths and qualities in the future meta of the game as well as advise on who you should prefer to pull from the two playable characters. Whether you’re a fan of strategic support or high-impact damage, this banner has something for everyone.
Acheron is currently HSR’s High-End DPS
Honkai: Star Rail re-runs both Acheron and Aventurine during the second phase of Version 2.6. Acheron’s impressive DPS, flexibility in team compositions, and high-impact Ultimate make her a top choice for players looking to invest in a powerful, versatile carry that can handle end-game content. She is currently one of the best DPS in the game and can clear many endgame content.
- High-Damage Hypercarry: Acheron excels as a primary DPS unit, delivering massive damage even against enemies not weak to Lightning, making her versatile for most encounters.
- Unique, Cost-Free Ultimate: Acheron’s Ultimate is extremely powerful—it ignores enemy weakness types and has no energy cost, allowing it to unleash massive damage without any resource limitations.
- Crit and Damage Scaling: Despite being a Nihility unit, Acheron’s DPS potential relies on high CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG, allowing her to scale with powerful DPS relics and stats, making her ideal for end-game content.
- Strong Synergy with Nihility Units: Acheron’s Bonus Ability grants additional DMG boosts when Nihility units are in the party. At Eidolon 0 and 1, she performs best with two other Nihility units to maximize her DMG output.
- Instant Overworld Kills: Acheron’s Technique can instantly kill overworld enemies (except bosses and elites). Even if an enemy resists the instant kill, Acheron applies Lightning DMG and gains a Slashed Dream stack.
Aventurine serves as HSR’s Long-lasting Sustainer and Shield
Aventurine is a 5-star Imaginary Preservation unit. He relies on scaling from DEF and provides Shielding, Buffs, and Damage. His current best team composition is the Follow-Up team comp. As of now, Aventurine is the best sustain unit in the game.
- Low Effort Build: Aventurine’s shields and damage output increase with his DEF stat, allowing him to serve as both a tank and damage dealer. Since Aventurine scales purely from DEF, it is easier to build him and provide good shielding while also dealing a high amount of damage.
- Solid Sustain with Versatile Damage: As a sustained unit, Aventurine provides robust shields to protect the team while dealing respectable damage to enemies. Currently, as of Version 2.6, Aventurine is the best sustain unit, beating the previous sustainer Fu Xuan.
- High Base CRIT Rate Potential: Achieving 4000 DEF grants Aventurine up to 48% Base CRIT Rate, enhancing his damage significantly. Once DEF and Speed are prioritized, building CRIT DMG and Imaginary DMG further boosts Aventurine’s damage potential.
- Self-Sufficient Effect RES Buff: Aventurine’s Skill provides him with an Effect RES buff, so he doesn’t need Effect RES stats from relics to activate the Broken Keel effect.
- Ideal for Follow-Up Attack Teams: Aventurine gains stacks of Blind Bet from allies’ Follow-Up attacks, making him well-suited for Follow-Up attack teams. Paired up with Dr. Ratio, Topaz, and Robin, this Follow-Up Team is very high in the META for end-game gameplay challenges and content.
- Skill Point Friendly: Aventurine’s max gameplay potential does not require him to use his Skill as often. As such he does not consume Skill Points often and in turn, creates more instead
Who should you pull for Acheron or Aventurine in HSR version 2.6
It is hard to compare both units since they provide very different functions in the game. It entirely depends on your current party and what you require in your comp to clear end-game content efficiently. Generally, it is preferable to pull for both Aventurine and Acheron since they both are the best units in their respective type.
If you lack good sustainers like Fu Xuan and are struggling with lasting long in battles then Aventurine is a great unit to have. Acheron on the other hand is an SS tier DPS that is predicted to stick very high in the meta for a long time. As such, players should try to pull for Acheron if they are planning to clear endgame content.
Final Thoughts
Honkai: Star Rail introducing Acheron and Aventurine during Phase 2 in Version 2.6 is certainly an overwhelming choice since are both great units with different strengths and weaknesses. Aventurine is a low-effort-built unit but can be replaced with Fu Xuan and Gepard if you’re planning on only prioritizing Acheron.
On the other hand, despite Acheron providing very high damage output she is still a unit that is costly and high effort to build. Acheron functions very well with her Signature Light Cone or with her E2. Additionally, you would require 2 Nihility units to maximize her damage potential. In the end, it is entirely up to you the players to analyze what character you need in your roster.
