The Elder Scrolls: Castles is Bethesda Softworks LLC’s latest castle management simulation title. It is a free-to-play simulation title that puts you in control of your very own castle and dynasty. You need loyal and hardworking subjects in your kingdom to run a castle properly. Most of the well-known races from the Elder Scrolls universe are present in The Elder Scrolls: Castles.
The Nords, High-Elfs, Argonians, Khajiits, Redguards, Imperial, and so on are all found in your castle. You can manage them by assigning them particular tasks, assigning suitable subjects from two different races for marriage, and even assigning them to have babies. So, let’s talk in detail about all the races that inhabit the castle.
List of different Races in The Elder Scrolls: Castles
The Elder Scrolls: Castles includes various well-known races originally found in the Elder Scrolls Universe. One of the most distinctive aspects of each race is their unique racial powers. But that’s not the case for the Elder Scrolls: Castles.
The race of subjects doesn’t affect the gameplay of the game but it surely helps you connect with the deep lore of Elder Scrolls. And it gives a nice opportunity to people who always wanted to try the Elder Scrolls but couldn’t. The Elder Scrolls: Castles have lots of lore-related references. In the Elder Scrolls: Castles, the subjects who reside in the castle are divided into ten different races from Tamriel.
1. Imperial
Imperials are a group of humans residing in the province of Cyrodiil, at the heart of the Empire. In this game, you will have lots of subjects from this race so make sure to keep them happy with your rulings. You get some of them by completing tasks.
2. Nord
Nords are a hardy group of people that originates from the province of Skyrim, present on the northern shores of Tamriel. You get Ulfric Stormcloak for completing quests in the Elder Scrolls: Castles who belong to the Nord race. He even aims for the throne and praises other kingdoms.
3. Breton
Bretons are a race of human and elf ancestry that can be found in the province of High Rock. You get a lot of decisions related to High Rock. The deceased King, Odar was a Breton. You also get to select either his wife, Ysabel, or his son Jofarr to become the next ruler and both are Bretons too.
4. Redguard
Redguards are the last race to settle on Tamriel and have long ruled over the province of Hammerfell. At the beginning of the Elder Scrolls: Castles, you have the choice to select the local Champion Rahim, as your King. Rahim belongs to this race. I chose Rahim as the ruler of my castle.
5. Argonian
Argonians are a race of reptilian beings from the southeastern province of Black Marsh. You will find them very interesting in the Elder Scrolls: Castles. When you assign a subject to have a baby with someone from this race, you will be surprised. Argonian babies look like Dinosaur eggs with legs and they give that cute touch to the game.
6. Orc
Orcs, also known as Orsimer were originally Elves and were cursed by a Daedric Prince. They have long struggled to establish their homeland. Throughout the game, you will find the Breton and the Orc race fighting against each other and you will get choices to select either side to support or you can wish for the war to settle down. The game also allows you to make many important decisions related to the Orc kingdom.
7. Wood Elf
Wood Elf are also known as Bosmer and they are the wildest of the Elves, many of which still hide in the forests of Valenwood. I particularly assign them to the mill to collect Wood and Limestones. Wood Elf and Mill where you collect Wood. Do you get it?
8. Khajiit
The Khajiits are a unique race of cat-like people mainly found in the southern province of Elsweyr. The deceased king’s mistress, Alassi is also a Khajiit. You also get the choice to choose her as your queen at the very beginning of the game.
9. High Elf
High Elves are also known as Altmer and they are the noblest of all elven kinds. You get two to three subjects from this race in the very beginning. They are hard-working subjects, so your decisions favoring them matter a lot. There will come lots of choices where you can favor them and favor elves in general.
10. Dark Elf
The Dark Elves are also known as Dunmer, the grey-skinned people of Morrowind. You will notice that Galiel Beleth who is from this race, is particularly very disloyal to the kingdom. Although your choices and decisions can sway his mind. The Elder Scrolls: Castle also drops a lot of references related to Morrowind.
Final Thoughts
Although the different races don’t affect your gameplay as such, you can still experience the Elder Scrolls lore through your subjects residing in your castle. They do drop a lot of references to the actual lore so it’s a nice idea to know about them and how they look. It gives a nice nostalgia to Elder Scrolls fans and also lets new players experience some Elder Scrolls lore while casually playing the Elder Scrolls: Castles.

Nords have more hitpoints. Argonian are the Second sturdiest. Healthpoints is the only difference i notice só Far and for that the nords have an advantage, which sucks.
