Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat to end service in China, servers to shut down on December 30th, 2024

End of its journey!

Story Highlights
  • NebulaJoy cited operational strategy adjustments as the reason for the game’s shutdown in China.
  • This shutdown affects only the Chinese market, and there is no impact on the global version.
  • Compensation plans for affected players will be announced at a later date.

Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat, the mobile adaptation of the beloved action RPG from CAPCOM, is officially ending its service and will shut down in China. According to the latest announcement from the developers, NebulaJoy, the game’s servers will be closed permanently on December 30, 2024, marking the end of a three-year run of the game in the region.

Adjustments to NebulaJoy’s operational strategy adjustments led to Devil May Cry’s demise in China

The decision comes as part of NebulaJoy’s operational strategy adjustments, though the developers have not provided detailed reasons. It might have also been because of the lack of revenue from the game, which might have made the developers shift their focus to other games live or in development.

Originally launched in China in 2021, Peak of Combat aimed to capture the fast-paced, chaotic combat style that fans love, bringing familiar characters like Dante to mobile devices. The global release announcement was a couple of years later with the opening of English pre-registrations, and it was released in 2024 after multiple rounds of closed beta tests.

As part of the shutdown process, all downloads, new registrations, and in-game purchases will cease on October 31, 2024. However, players will have access to their existing accounts and in-game content until the final server shutdown on December 30, 2024.

After that, all player data, including account and character information, will be deleted. The developers have expressed gratitude to the community for their support and announced that compensation plans for affected players will be shared soon.

Now, some players might be confused about this. This shutdown applies only to the Chinese market. There is no impact on the global version of the game, which currently continues to operate for Android and iOS users worldwide.
