Diablo Immortal: Blizzard Entertainment’s game release is delayed to 2022

The mobile action RPG needs polish, says feedback from technical alpha.

Blizzard Entertainment, one of the developers and the sole publisher of Diablo Immortal, announced that the release of their mobile action RPG game has been delayed as the game needs further polishing. A blog post from Blizzard confirmed the news. The plan now is to release the game in the first half of 2022. Previously, the game was supposed to be released this year. The game entered its alpha in 2020. In the limited technical alpha, the game introduced tons of features.

“This is just a glimpse of what we’re working on, so we may deliver you a Diablo experience you will enjoy. We’re preparing for another upcoming limited test later this year, consisting of improvements from what we learned from Closed Alpha and other community feedback. To our members of the community, thank you for your patience and continued support for Diablo Immortal”, Blizzard said. “So, the game is now planned for release in the first half of 2022, which will allow us to add substantial improvements to the whole game”, they further added.

New content is based on community feedback

The company said that the game is still in development. Game content, as it is now, is not final and is subject to change. The game will have 8 players raid and new PvE-centric Raids in the Helliquary system. The bounties system will be more engaging and fruitful for the players. Players who take more risk on Challenges Rifts will be most rewarded with exclusive upgrade materials.

On the other hand, the PvP gameplay, as Blizzard is claiming, will evaluate matchmaking, earning rankings, class balance, time to kill, and other defining elements to improve the Battleground in Diablo Immortal. The Cycle of Strife mode, where players clash with the Immortals of Sanctuary, will be more optimized to make players feel more worthy for the higher-level quests.

“We’re still working through the challenges of adapting the touch screen controls to a controller seamlessly”, the post said. It seems that players can enjoy the game via controllers in the next beta. Blizzard said that the community has been a “key collaborator” since the game began its closed Alpha testing, and has helped them to mold the vision they have for this demon-slaying RPG.
