Diablo Immortal will be arriving with the September 2024 update, which is named Crucible of Justice, bringing a plethora of new content for players to explore. This update introduces the next chapter in the main storyline, new co-op experiences, limited-time events, powerful items, and fresh challenges, which I will share in this space.
Diablo Immortal September 2024 update: All new features explained
Crucible of Justice Main Quest
The Crucible of Justice continues the Diablo Immortal narrative, accessible to you if you have reached Paragon level 30 and completed the Southern Dreadlands questline. In this chapter, the shattering of the Worldstone has left your character unable to wield the powerful sword El’druin, once belonging to the archangel Tyrael. To contain the evil, you must travel to the Cold Isles, the home of the Tempests.
Vanguard Co-op Mode
Another new addition to look forward to is the new Vanguard mode. This co-op experience allows up to four of you to team up against enemies with up to 5 missions. Set in Lidwinter Woods, you must complete objectives like escorting a Guardian Spirit, felling a Helliquary Boss, or halting a demon invasion. With five difficulty tiers, some objectives are only available at higher levels.
In addition to these missions, you can utilize Vanguard skills, a set of unique abilities that can improve combat performance. They are of four categories namely, Might, Bane, Defense, and Heal. As you complete Vanguard runs, you will earn Vanguard Charms, which can be upgraded to enhance these skills. The charms can be upgraded through play or broken down into shards to boost other charms.
New Legendary Gems and Helliquary Affixes
Three new Legendary Gems are now available in the update namely Wulfheort, Cold Confidant, and Entropic Well.
The five-star gem Wulfheort adds significant offensive power, stacking damage and granting increased attack speed. The two-star gem Cold Confidant creates a pillar of ice to chill enemies and deal damage, while the one-star gem Entropic Well increases skill damage and attack speed.
If you are aiming for the top-tier gem, I have some good news. For a limited time, from September 11 to October 2, 2024, you can modify the drop table to increase the chances of obtaining Wulfheort.
Additionally, new Helliquary Affixes put boss-like powers in your hands. These affixes are found on off-hand and main-hand items and can trigger powerful effects like Twofold Barrage, Deluge Maelstrom, and Flame-spun Eruption.
Festival of the Ancient Moon Event
The Festival of the Ancient Moon is a limited-time event running from September 13 to September 27, 2024. This event celebrates the Mid-Autumn Festival, where you have to complete daily and weekly tasks to earn rewards like Runes, Aspirant’s Keys, Legendary Items, and others. Participating in these challenges will unlock rewards like Telluric Pearls, Set Items, and rare rewards from Iben Fahd’s Sanctum.
Hero’s Journey and Toil of Virtue
New chapters in the Hero’s Journey have also been unlocked with this update, allowing you (if above level 55) to embark on new quests that provide rewards, including Aspirant’s Keys and a new Exalted Expedition Portal Cosmetic. Completing these chapters offers you opportunities to further your progression and obtain exclusive items.
