- FC Mobile Korea teamed up with Nexon to host a grand exhibition match
- Two teams FC Spear and Shield United comprising of Football greats went head-to-head against each other
- The event was a grand success with the defenders, Shield United having the last laugh.
FC Mobile Korea, the South Korea-exclusive localized version of Electronic Art’s FC Mobile from Nexon has recently hosted a friendly charity match in the Seoul World Cup Stadium, South Korea. Together with Nexon’s EA Sports FC Online, the fan-favorite PC-exclusive counterpart of FC 25 global, FC Mobile Korea has organized an Icons Match involving some of the legends of the game.
The Nexon Icons Match as it’s termed was organized this weekend of October 19 and 20 involving two football matches involving eminent professionals including Didier Drogba, Del Piero, Kaka, Seedorf, Puyol, Pirlo, etc. The match is organized by Shoot for Love, a campaign that supports children suffering from leukemia and cancer.

FC Spear and Shield United went head-to-head in a mega showdown
The two teams, FC Spear involving 11 lethal attackers, and Shield United comprising 11 of the world’s best defenders were at loggerheads with each other for two days in various competitions including 1v1 matchups, shooting competitions, and the mega event consisting of a full fledge 90-min match for the ultimate bragging rights.
Despite being friendly, the teams boasted some serious talents in their ranks with a total of 5 Ballon d’Or winners for both teams, while there were 18 Champions League winners and 7 Golden Boot winners. Managed by former French superstar Thierry Henry, the FC Spear team boasted some serious names including Drogba, Del Piero, Kaka, Figo, Shevchenko, Owen, Hazard, Forlán, Tévez, etc
On the other hand, Shield United, coached by former Italian Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro, fielded the likes of Ferdinand, Puyol, Carvalho, Mascherano, Vidic, Pirlo, Bonucci, Touré Yaya, van der Sar, etc. Although it might seem the attackers would have got the upper hand in the game, on the contrary, it was the defenders, ie Shield United who won 4-1 against FC Spear with Seedorf, Touré Yaya, and Mascherano featuring on the scoresheet.
The match was a grand success with fans filling the stadium and a million more joining from various livestreams. Personally, for me, it was a nostalgic ride watching my childhood heroes go against each other while displaying their class.
