Genshin Impact 2.4 update is arriving very soon with its vast array of upcoming events and a number of new character banners. This update is special because it will feature the Lantern Rite event. Along with more game content and juicy rewards in the form of primogems, we have listed out the most important things about the upcoming Genshin Impact 2.4 update, along with its various events, which will be laid out in this article.
Genshin Impact 2.4 update: Release date
The game will go for scheduled maintenance just before the update which will begin at 06:00 (UTC+8), on the date of 5th of January, 2022. The maintenance will last for 5 hours or more. Once the maintenance is done, the Genshin Impact version update 2.4 will go live with all its events.
Limited Characters banners
Genshin Impact 2.4 update will bring a total of 4 Five star characters in the patch duration. The first is known as “The Transcendent One Returns” Event Wish Banner. This will feature the new Cryo character “Lonesome Transcendence” Shenhe. It will be available as soon as the update is live.

During this event wish, the banner will feature 3 four-star characters which are “Stage Lucida” Yun Jin (Geo), “Frozen Ardor” Chongyun (Cryo) and “Eclipsing Star” Ningguang (Geo). All these characters will have boosted drop rates for the banner duration.
Along with her on the Character Event Wish-2, we will have an “Invitation to Mundane Life” Event Wish banner featuring five-star Anemo character “Vigilant Yaksha” Xiao. His banner will have the same four stars as Shenhe, with the same boosted rates.
In the second half of the update, there will be two more rerun banners, which will arrive on the 26th of January, 2022. The first is “Adrift in the Harbor” Event Wish Banner which will feature a five star Cryo character “Plenilune Gaze” Ganyu, her banner will also feature four-star characters “Uncrowned Lord of the Ocean” Beidou (Electro), “Juvenile Galant” Xingqiu (Hydro) and “Wise Innocence” Yanfei (Pyro).
Concurrent with her banner, there will be another Event Wish banner “Gentry of Hermitage”. It will feature the five-star geo characters of “Vago Mundo” Zhongli. His banner will also share Ganyu’s featured four-star character with boosted drop-rates for everyone.
Daily Login Event “May Fortune Find You”
There will be a daily reward system for Lantern Rite that would give rewards after each consecutive login. The event will last from the 25th of January, 2022 until the 9th of February, 2022. After this daily login event is finished, there will be another one that will last up to February 13, 2022, rewards will include Primogems, Fragile resins, and more.
Special Outfits for Ningguang and Keqing
The Ningguang skin can be claimed for free by completing the event of “Fleeting Colors in Flight”. Keqing’s skin “Opulent Splendor” however will be a premium one. Therefore, it can only be bought by Genesis Crystals. During the event, her skin will get a discount at the price of 1350 Genesis Crystals. After the patch is over, it will cost the original price of 1680 Genesis Crystals.
New Archon Quests
Archon Questline will get a continuation with a new Archon Quest Interlude chapter.
Act I “ The Crane Returns on the Wind”
In order to unlock this new quest, the previous Archon quest, Act III – “A New Star Approaches’ must be completed, along with any other prerequisite quests.
Map Expansion: Eukanomiya
The main focus of the new update will be the new region Eukanomiya. It is an underground region under Inazuma, with a fascinating weather phenomenon. This map expansion will include new bosses, puzzles, and a lot of hidden quests to solve. Bolteater Bathysmal Vishap and Rimebitter Bathysmal Vishap are the two new bosses that will be available in Eukanomiya. They will drop materials for the ascension of new characters.
Genshin Impact Version 2.4 update: Upcoming events
“A Study in Potions” Event
In this event, players will help Timaeus by testing out various potions, to see their effects. Rewards include primogems, Hero’s Wit and more. The event will be combat-focused and the potions will provide all kinds of buffs for the team. The event will last from the 7th of January, 2022 to the 17th of January, 2022.
‘Windtrace” Event
This will be the second Windtrace event. Prior to the new update, there was a similar event in the Genshin Impact 1.5 update. Players will play hide-seek-capture with one another, for victory for either of the two teams, Rebels or Hunters. Rebels will hide from Hunters and use special skills to avoid getting caught. Hunters would have to use various abilities in their arsenal to catch the rebels in a limited amount of time. This event will last from the 13th of January, 2022 to the 27th of January, 2022.
Eight Locales Over Mountain and Seas Event
Players will have to take the tanukii, Kichiboushi out for an adventure with them. Their journey will start from Inazuma all the way to Mondstadt and Liyue. The rewards for this event include a piece of event-exclusive furniture along with primogems, Hero’s Wit, and other rewards. The event will last from the 4th of February, 2022 to the 14th of February, 2022.
Hangout Events
This update will bring the hangout events for two more characters of Ningguang (The Jade Chamber’s Returning) and Yun Jin (A Song that Knows Grace). The hangouts will be available as soon as the new update is live. However, there is an Adventure Rank requirement of 30. If someone is less than that, one must level up the AR level and it will unlock automatically.
