Since its release, we have seen Genshin Impact breaking extensive records in the gaming market. The game has seen outstanding success, with thousands of players joining the game monthly. According to the latest statistics, Genshin Impact has almost an amount of 65 million active players coming into this month.
During the initial development phase, Genshin Impact had a development budget of USD 100 million during its release in 2020. In February 2021, a presentation from the officials showed that the game is supposed to cost USD 200 million per year for the game’s development plans. Fast Forward to two years of release, the game is on its way to being the most expensive game ever made, with an estimated total cost of USD 500 million. The calculations were made by a Redditor called u/KeiraFaith.
miHoYo will mainly spend the estimated budget behind the development of the game. The development plan includes major story updates, new characters, new regions, in-game events, crossovers, etc.
Return on Investment (RoI) on the game is also high
According to statistics shared by the Redditor, Genshin Impact holds 67% of the total gacha market. Previously, market researchers have seen the game-breaking record of the highest grossing game in the first year, as it passed the USD 3.5 billion revenue mark within one year of its release. The game is said to have earned USD 567 million, during the first quarter of 2022.
According to a report by Sensor Tower, Genshin Impact is earning USD 1 billion every six months, after launching on mobile. The title generated USD 3 billion till now, across both Google Play Store and App Store.
Genshin Impact has successfully kept the F2P player-base happy, despite being a gacha game. Players spend an estimated amount of USD 98.41 in Japan itself. The high Investment in the game has certainly paid off for miHoYo.
