KONAMI reintroduces Mason Greenwood in eFootball 2023 in its latest update

Could this be a possible hint of the forward making a comeback to football with Manchester United?

After removing initially back from eFootball PES 2021 back in February 2022, KONAMI has now reintroduced Mason Greenwood in eFootball 2023 with its latest update. The Manchester United forward was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and had been suspended since from all forms of football. He had been charged in October 2022 but the charges have since been dropped in February 2023 by the Crown Prosecution Service.

As a result of the allegations, Greenwood was removed from the game’s database last year. However, recently with the August 2023 update, KONAMI has reintroduced the 21-year-old forward to Manchester United’s roster along with their newly registered signings for the 2023-24 season namely, Mason Mount and André Onana.

Greenwood’s return to the game hints at his possible return to football

After being cleared of all the allegations and dropped in charges by the Crown Prosecution Service, Greenwood’s parent club Manchester United announced to conduct an internal investigation to decide the player’s future. Since then United are yet to release an official statement on the player’s return to their squad although he has started participating in personal training activities.

There have been reports of Manchester United incorporating Mason Greenwood as a part of their first-team squad, loaning him out to another club, or even selling him although there haven’t been any announcements yet with their Red Devils set to begin their Premier League season against Wolves this Monday.

Previously due to all allegations and following his arrest, many developers including EA Sports had removed Mason Greenwood from FIFA Mobile. Although EA has not reinstated Greenwood, with KONAMI’s move it seems Greenwood’s future is slowly becoming clear. With KONAMI’s eFootball 2023 being the official video game partner Manchester United, it is speculated this move might provide a hint to the club’s intended course of action, although there has been no evidence of the same yet.

Greenwood’s re-entry to eFootball 2023 comes with a rating of 75

Earlier in eFootball PES 2021, Greenwood was a Gold Ball player with an initial rating of 80. His current player card in eFootball 2023 comes with an initial rating of 75. His detailed stats and character traits are also updated in the game. Additionally, along with Greenwood, Manchester United fans can now try out their two new summer signings Mason Mount and André Onana in the game who are added by KONAMI to the game with its latest update of eFootball 2023.
